Looting higher level guarded treasure early wise or should I wait?

I challenged myself to a super strong monster guarding a chest and wondering if it is wise to open it or wait till I'm higher level? I ask because I don't know rather or not if the loot will be a lot weaker if I try to loot it early.

Alright. Probably right about the witcher gear though I probably made mistake in selling some past witcher gear from start of game but I'm learning. Thanks.

Some of the loot are scaled to your current level. And you can go ahead and open the chest if you want since most loot in chests the becomes superseded by Witcher gear.

I done that a time or 2. Really liking the game but was getting confused since some really tough encounters left me with bad loot so thought there was me being punished by exploring early.

The loot chests are useless in my opinion. Witcher gear is pretty much all you need.

unfortunately this's true in nearly all of tw3 except early game :/

Never be afraid to open chests that are "out in the world".
And until you can equip Superior Witcher Gear: Just look for any drop that is an upgrade from what you have.
Understanding that sometimes extra gemslots can trump the base stats (Depending on what the stats are) on either and armour piece or weapon.

It's always good to open the chests and get stuff to sell off, if nothing else.
