Why not add a mod where you can have a 'helper' type second player who's a Selsword, Knight-errant, whatever. You could deck them out in whatever gear and they could join for some jolly cooperation. You could even have some simple skill tree for them. If they die you could throw their gear on a horse and go hire another.

Would add some funny moments and replay value.

*sighs* What meaning would have the genre single player game if a coop feature would be fired out later only to satisfy the call of duty playerbase to get some distraction elsewhere?

I know it sounds intressting to experience these and that in a different way. I often wondered about a command & Conquer role playing game... like playing a commander in first or third person and doing quests when not in strategy mode, like driving a mammoth tank simulation like... or staying at home like a good old Sim but hey... we cannot get every desire satisfied. Perhaps in heaven or hell of you are good/bad boy :P

So you want to play as Geralt and his brother from another mother? You do get that this is a single person's story about his relationship with his adopted daughter. How the hell would that even begin to take into account a coop mode?

When you put on your pants in the morning, do you secretly wish someone could join you in there?? Some things are meant to be experienced all on your own.
2x Gerald... It's only for coop.. Do singleplayer not alone...

you realize thats a contradiction in itself right?
it takes an immense amount of coding to create and maintain a 'shared' worldspace and afaik it must be done in the base game, not sure adding this after the fact is even possible or ALL SP games would have mods like this

One word: Halo.

Playing with friends is something I enjoy as well. The argument that it takes away from the story is simply not true. It just requires more effort to add to the game, based on how the engine / game code is set up. That's it.

Proceed to start insulting me now that your entire argument has been disarmed.

co-op mod... i think op seriously underestimates how much extra code it'd take to implement p2p or server-client communication in standalone game :o totally doubtful any modding can do this in real time.

The lack of imagination amazes me. I talked about this topic with friends and it would be awesome if you could play this game in multiplayer. But not as Gerald or Ciri. Enter the world as a Witcher of your own creation, do some simple quests, contracts and hunt monsters together. Endless game mode with weekly respawns, choose from one of the different Witcher schools and just have a gay old time with a pal. Think outside of the box sometimes, people.

Is not a question of lack of imagination but more a question of games are still limited to certain goals, mainly due to budget/time constraints. Is not easy to deliver both kinds of gameplay, single player and multi-player(coop, arena or mmo kind of) and done decently, not for the sake of saying "we did it".

Mods are limited unless you reverse engineer the game. Scriptting language doesn't grant full accces to what the game does. If the game engine doesn't implement network interaction required for multiplayer then is simply not possible to do it through modding.

Also you cannot give characterization and character creation at the same time. Or one or another and CDPR made this choice regarding the franchise.

It's a fun idea that would probably be fun in practice.

@BuzzardBee
You're disgusting.

Then you should contact CDPR and suggest them to make that game, that it could be nice. As far as TW3 is concerned cannot be done, not even modding.

All these people going hostile about this question saying people aren't skilled or they're ungrateful but thats all bs. First off, the game can't keep my attention because the combats too easy on the hardest mode and because of that, the story becomes uninteresting to me as theres a lack of challenge. The reason I'd want a co-op mode isn't for a second damage value or meat shield, its so my friend can keep me focused on the quests long enough to enjoy the story. Finally, for those of you going off about how ungrateful we are for asking a question about the possibility for co-op mode, I think you're a bit slow. This is a product, which we all paid for, and when it doesn't satisfy us we think of ways to better our experience. Acting like they gave it away for free or that the product itself was a gift from god. Nah man, its just another game that we threw money at and some of us aren't enjoying it as much as you guys seem to be lmao.

Yo
jesuis crust why did people get so offended by this question lol

Didn't someone manage to make a multiplayer mod for Skyrim? I do think that it's entirely possible for someone to do something similar with this game, but it wouldn't probably be anytime soon (at least, I haven't heard anything about. anything)

and I may be a loner but I wouldn't mind exploring the world with a friend by my side. Twice the fun, yes? :D
