Leshen is stalking me or a monster and his wall, a love story.
so i'm level 5. been mucking around with gwent a fair bit. go here and there playing peoples for cards. so i'm off on a gwent quest, one dude left to play and i come across some old crypt type dungeon in the forest.

i go in for a poke around. some level 7 wraith's. no probs. i've downed some level 15 or 16 hag thing and a level 14 i think it was forktail, plus some random bandits here and there in the low to mid teens. no major dramas. feeling ok with things.

blow a wall down, killed a wraith, saved and out comes Leshen. it's got double question marks so i figure it's higher than at least 19, one shots me. i load back up, figure bugger this i'm just on my way to get a gwent card, i'll come back here later. wander off, clear the rest of the dungeon, was some good loot in there, and leave.

it's about 15 minutes at least since i blew down Leshen's wall, i'm being a herb tramp and killing random bears and wolves on my way to get this card and boom! Leshen's back and he's none too happy about me blowing his wall down. i run away. a couple of minutes later, Leshen! i mean Leshen must have really loved that wall 'cause he is stalking me through the forest. you think he'd be happy i let him out but nooooooo.. he's got a raging meatwand for me, or woodwand i should say. Leshen has serious NPH wood for me.

i've dodged all his attacks so far except for that first insta death. i'm gonna see if he follows me to a city with lots of guards. maybe they'll kill him and i can loot him. if not.. it's a long way back for a manual save hahaha. Leshen the stalker. here's to you Leshen you big brute you.

so. i gave Leshen the slip in the woods and thought i would go back to see if he was there, you know for monster parts and if there's a quest and such and lo and behold! his wall was fixed. ok.

so i blew it down and went in to double check. tried igni on the gas and that worked, the benefits of having an 8 yr old daughter and multiple viewings of dragonriders of burke, got up to a rock wall, aard'd that and some other monster called enkinarrasomethingorother was there. he was surprisingly tricky as i was cocky 'cause he was only 11 and i don't have too much trouble with monsters in that range, anyway while i'm mucking around with ekkythump, Leshen appears behind me and one shotted me.

all i can think is Leshen really loves his wall. before hunting me through the forest and whilst i was in the other two rooms of his dungeon, he must have lovingly rebuilt his wall, thought to himself "i'm going to kill the mullet that knocked down my wall", stalked me through the woods, and lost my trail. sensed his wall had been knocked down again, or just decided to go home, and bang! got me. he's probably rebuilding it right now muttering to himself something about "bloody casul's" and "git gud" before commiserating with ekkythump and bandaging him up.

think i'll leave his wall alone until my geralt is a little bigger..

I had similar experience with that leshen, was way under level for that particular area, diff was he's still there when i came back from insta death. So I move on until much higher level and came back. He was not in sight. I guess he was put there by devs to limit access from low level player.

No stalking me tho, didn't hang around.

don't blame you. he's pretty lethal when you level 5 lol..

hmmm, i picked up a potion recipe for a Leshen concoction and i looked him up on wiki and he's there. must be a little glitchy that place. i don't want to miss out on killing him. he might have a unique body part. wait. guess i could use that debug console tool if he disappears. anyway i'll save and go back and check on him as i level. handy there is a fast travel sign post there. yay! thanks for the info mate. cheers!

cleared that dragonslayer's grotto. killed the vampire quickly, looted the place and got out before Leshen came back lol.. was a little interseted so i did a little googling

apparently there is a Leshen, they are supposed to not be all that common, lurking around in the forest near the grotto. sometimes if he's nearby, he comes in. for some people the Leshen killed the vampire, they ran away, then went back after the Leshen had wandered off and looted the grffin armor plans. this happened for a few people.

supposedly when you knock the first wall down and he's in there, it's a bug. regardless i have found out he is level 20 and supposedly a tough mob but slow and weak to fire. hope the Leshen is still around those parts when i go back. he seems to like to stalk me if i go near the grotto. when i'm better levelled and geared, i'll go take a crack at him. funny Leshen lolz. this game is pretty outstanding imo. bugs and all. it's made my top 5 of all time. good fun.

The monster in Dragon Slayer's Grotto is the Ekkimara (vampire). The Leshen stalks you all around the area between Lindenvale, Downwarren and Reardon Manor and all the way into Dragon Slayer's Grotto. Not fun when your Geralt is only lvl7 and the Leshen is locked at lvl20.
I've had some very close shaves at Reardon Manor when trying to enter the basement with the brothers remains and desperately trying NOT to enter combat with the Leshen. Still freaks me out every time I play...

ikr? Leshen's a trip. level 7's not mush higher than 5, bloody gwent, and he genuinely scared me hahaha..

it's surreal and a little spooky in the dark woods when it's raining and i stop and watch my backtrail trying to gauge how far i have to run to escape him, and you spot Leshen slowly stalking towards you. *shivers* eep!

I first encountered the lvl 20 leshen while investigating the Reardon Manor case. In the middle of dancing with the wraiths, this monstrosity came out of NO WHERE and I was "THIS WAS NOT PART OF THE DEAL WE AGREED ON!!!"

Eventually I did plan to fight him in the cavern ruins even though I was still severely under-leveled. After a couple failed attempts I managed to figure out the leshen's patterns and just slowly wore him down.

lol i know right? surprise! random Leshen.

i'm planning to head back around level 10. i'm hoping i can get him then. he'll be there somewhere. that Leshen is tots salty i knocked his wall down a few times.

what level were you and difficulty setting did you get him on, if you don't mind my asking mate?

I can't remember it was relatively such a long time ago; I'm now almost lvl 22 at Skellige. I think one has to be at least 10 levels or less below in order to tell an enemy's own level, so I should've been lvl 10-12.

Fighting a leshen is a matter of dodging its ranged root attack, then dodge slightly more on its reappearance melee swings; I can then land a combo of 4-5 swings before it chickens out and vanishes. Rinse and repeat. Quen, of course helps with failed dodges from his roots.

cool. cheers mate. i read also when he shoves his arms into the ground just prior to the root attack, that's a good time to zip in and land a few, maybe a little igni seeing as he's a bit treeish. thanks mate, ta.

Yes if you can manage to roll in close while it's rooting, it is pretty immobile, and you're free to swing away with combo.

ya.. i'm going back when i hit 10, see if can take him out. bit of payback for that shifty Leshen. if i fail, i'll try 12. i'll get him. eventually lol
