After all this time, did anyone make out what the quest really is about? Does it make any difference if you give the woman the captain's log and the letter?

Was it supposed to be something more, like the boat guy in Undvik, but it never got a follow up? It's so mysterious one has to wonder.

I don't think I've ever had the option to give the woman the log and letter in all the times I've played it. It does feel as if there should be more too it.

That's useful to know, I've always met the warrior first in my playthoughs and it's always felt like a rather abrupt ending when I meet the woman.
