Griffin decoction

I was wondering exactly how this damage reduction ramps up. If you look at the decoction in your inventory it shows 1% resistance across the board. But it is supposed to increase the more damage you take in the fight. If I look at it in my inventory after taking damage in a fight it still shows the base 1%. How high does it ramp up and how quickly? How strong is this decoction? I can only use one at a time right now and the only two I have are griffin and wyvern (i'm proud of myself for killing the level 14 wyvern at level 6, might be easy for you guys but it made me feel BA for a moment). I'm trying to learn how best to use what i've got.
