Early Gwent playing
I really like the game Gwent. I even beat the noble on the bench in vizima with my starter deck to win the Foltest siegemaster card. I have a good grasp on the game and a pretty solid strategy I think. The only problem is now all I find for sale are Nilfgaardian and Scoi'atel cards. Meanwhile the people I have challenged (like first innkeeper on the quest) are all swinging decks full of heroes and medics while I only just got rid of my second "poor f***ing infantry" card. It's a fun game but it's less fun when the challenge level is always like bringing a letter opener to a sword fight.

My question is where can I get northern cards to improve my deck at this point in the game? I have access to the city of Novigrad and am level 6.

I play gwent from the start of the game to. i think it adds more diversity in the beginning all the way till the end.
I play more like getting the max out of every area i stumble upon so i played like 15 hours in velen alone till i only got quests en contracts that are level 20+ then moved to novigrad and im still there gwenting, questing, (this means going to every merchant to)

but to the case of gwenting its a luck game also but good cards are relevant as well and you should keep your deck minimized with normal type units and have more special cards, ability cards, you won't complete your deck till skellige i think.

Hmm. Northern Realms must be kinda weak comparatively then. Because I saw a ton of hero cards hit the table from nilfgaard decks. I saw like 4 in one game with the nobleman in vizima. And it's not just that I need new cards to collect. I need more of some that I have already. Like catapult and that one medic card that I have. Maybe more spies too. When I played the first innkeeper literally every other card he plays is a medic and brings stuff from his discard into play. Had a lot of spies too. In round 3 he had like 8 cards in hand and for every 2 cards he played one came from his discard onto the board. It was like playing against his entire deck at the end of the game lol. Had one match too where he laid down all 3 weather effects and then played yennefer ftw. With my deck as is a lot of the time skill just isn't enough.

You'll get more cards as you progress through the game, you're deck is definitely underpowered when you start. play all the merchants first b/c they'll be easier to beat, and you'll get some good cards doing gwent quests

hero spy decoy weather and scorch can be used in any deck. there're no nilfgard deck heroes.

Ahh, I see. I thought there were separate sets of heroes. Having cards immune to effects is a real game changer. My basic tactic is using spy/decoy to all but throw the first match and then scoop my best cards back up and win the second two matches with and overwhelming hand.

Letho is one of them ;)

Yeah, I saw Letho come out. Also had a game where they got all three weather effects out and dropped Yennefer on the board for a draw... that is a win for nilfgaardian decks. I couldn't even be mad.

yennefer could be used in any deck tho, Nilfgaard has Letho and some more.
