Why does everybody love this game so much?
I can feel the hate from here but I really dont get why everybody praises this game? The combat is awfull the story is borring if you havent read the books/played previous games, and overall its just a boring game . It looks and sounds amazing and the sidequests arent bad but i still dont get why everybody praises it?

Because it's better than most games out there I believe? While it's true a lot of folks tend to overlook some obvious faults of the game while blinded by fanboyism and claim it to be "the best RPG EVARRR" or whatever, it doesn't take away from the fact that The Witcher 3 stands out as an inspirational game in many aspects. And for that it deserves hefty praise.

The story is good and immersive.
Graphics are good.
Actions have consequences. Most not major but enough to change things slightly.
Different endings.
Not bloated with go kill x ten times and return quests.

I could go on but leave some for others. I agree the combat sucks but the rest of the game compensates well, I think.

Oh and most importantly is it is good value for money, even when purchased at full retail price. Too many games cost way too much for the amount of time it takes to complete included content.

No its a way worse game at the moment due to the fact that its in early acess. But yes overall I do enjoy multiplayer titles more since they stay fresh. Also the gameplay of pubg isnt bad. I just cannot enjoy a game with horrible combat. I tried but it just doesnt work. And the witchers combat system is just trash.

also comparing a singleplayer rpg to a multiplayer shooter is just stupid.

For anyone who enjoy RPG's there's actually a lot to like in this game ..
- Story (main story sucks though, but side quests are awesome)
- Choices and lots of them.
- You get lots of loot.
- You can craft stuff.
- You can upgrade stuff.
- Lots of armor and weaponry.
- 120h+ on your first run (unless you rush like some dimwits do).
- Plastic boobies, just like in real life.
- Beautiful graphics.

And if you're a Witcher fan (as in having played the prev 2 games) you're gonna love this game.

Better than 95% of the junk that's released these days.

Can you name another RPG you like ? I really thinking that you are just not a rpg guys... That would explains your negative points. Bad combat: what level did you play ? Boring: You have plenty of "diferent" things to do... If you just dont care about the characters and its just playing for no reason, than you will NEVER really feel the game, it will always be boring...

I agree, this game is really good but overrated. People who say that its the best RPG ever never played Final Fantasy or Elder Scrolls.

Leveling and looting. It's a positive feedback loop that many people enjoy. This game executes it well.

Definitely agree.
Witcher 3 is definitely a great game, but it's severely overrated.

I can sum it up as a "Jack of All Trades; Master of None."
There's definitely RPGs that have better stories, better characters, better combat, etc.

However, the Witcher 3 is one of those games that manages to have most of the features and mechanics above average, while the features that aren't are just serviceable (i.e. combat).

Since games like that are uncommon, it often leads to most people overrating.
Great game
Heres why;

  • The amount of work put into this game is amazing.

  • The characters have "Feelings"

  • The time and effort put into all the notes and books ingame is great because it means the devs
cared for it to put that much work into it.

  • There is nudity. You can cheat on characters that you have "Loved" as for why i mentioned they have "Feelings". For instance if you cheat on triss, yen and triss wont like you. same otherway round.

  • The story is time consuming yes. but the amount of thought put into it is mind blowing for a game.

  • The detail for everything is great.

  • The combat works pretty well. nothing wrong with it. but whats a game without a few glitches or bugs to give it more of a challange?

  • The characters have meaning. They all have a purpose during the story.

  • All the tools, items and weapons have a meaning and uses. without certain things you cannot do certain things.

  • It brings out emotions for certain characters including yourself.

  • Free roam

  • Incredibly immersive.

  • Each and every choice you make may reflect what happens during the story and to chracters in the game. May reflect on who may live or die

  • Most importantly its a "Choose your own Adventure/Story" game.

Overall a very well made story/adventure game. the cutscenes and music all fits incredibly well. so far iv not found something i dont like other then a few things that i find morally wrong..... but thats just a peronal opinion.

im currently on my second run of the story. i screwed up part of the first bit and wanna do it right. so im doing the newgame plus after i completed the story itself. so ill probably end up with 350 hours if not more when im done with this game.

This is actually one of my biggest gripes. Loot is mostly pointless because wwitcher gear owns all. Levelling isn't all that either because your skills are restricted so you are only making room for alt builds. So for a swordsman like myself it's pointless..all levels do is let me wear better witcher gear.

Jack of all trades is pretty much how I would describe this game as well. There's nothing really groundbreaking but it happens to be a mixture of many great things, like seamless open world and rich storytelling. I'm also one of those that found the combat repetitive after awhile.

For me it was a very immersive storybased action-adventure game with tons of hours of content ( I've finished the game just recently, will resume playing it after sometime ) and its something which I always wanted.

Additionally what I also liked about this game is that it is the only RPG where I've seen some decent animations ( haven't played many RPG games though ) and has an awesome story, characters, music, world etc. which will keep you in the game for a very long time.

i have over 1000 hours in the dark souls series and around 250 in modded skyrim (since unmodded combat is bad aswell)
