Graphics are good.
Actions have consequences. Most not major but enough to change things slightly.
Different endings.
Not bloated with go kill x ten times and return quests.
I could go on but leave some for others. I agree the combat sucks but the rest of the game compensates well, I think.
Oh and most importantly is it is good value for money, even when purchased at full retail price. Too many games cost way too much for the amount of time it takes to complete included content.
- Story (main story sucks though, but side quests are awesome)
- Choices and lots of them.
- You get lots of loot.
- You can craft stuff.
- You can upgrade stuff.
- Lots of armor and weaponry.
- 120h+ on your first run (unless you rush like some dimwits do).
- Plastic boobies, just like in real life.
- Beautiful graphics.
And if you're a Witcher fan (as in having played the prev 2 games) you're gonna love this game.
Better than 95% of the junk that's released these days.
Witcher 3 is definitely a great game, but it's severely overrated.
I can sum it up as a "Jack of All Trades; Master of None."
There's definitely RPGs that have better stories, better characters, better combat, etc.
However, the Witcher 3 is one of those games that manages to have most of the features and mechanics above average, while the features that aren't are just serviceable (i.e. combat).
Since games like that are uncommon, it often leads to most people overrating.
cared for it to put that much work into it.
Overall a very well made story/adventure game. the cutscenes and music all fits incredibly well. so far iv not found something i dont like other then a few things that i find morally wrong..... but thats just a peronal opinion.
im currently on my second run of the story. i screwed up part of the first bit and wanna do it right. so im doing the newgame plus after i completed the story itself. so ill probably end up with 350 hours if not more when im done with this game.
Jack of all trades is pretty much how I would describe this game as well. There's nothing really groundbreaking but it happens to be a mixture of many great things, like seamless open world and rich storytelling. I'm also one of those that found the combat repetitive after awhile.
Additionally what I also liked about this game is that it is the only RPG where I've seen some decent animations ( haven't played many RPG games though ) and has an awesome story, characters, music, world etc. which will keep you in the game for a very long time.
