around 100% damage resistance to monster!?
This is very simple, with full grand master ursine set and protective coating, damage resistance to monster is at around 100%. If that is the case I believe this is too broken. It should be a diminishing effect with the multipliers. Say grand master ursine grants 74%, leaving behind 26%. Protective coating adds another 25% of the remaining 26% resulting in 18%~19%. At lease this way you are not nearly invulnerable to monsters.
Anyone else using this build? You need Blood and Wine for grand master witcher gears.

Have you tried piercing cold Aard with the extended range and circular spray skills? Now that's broken. With 3 pieces of grandmaster griffin and 1 instant adrenaline point at the start of a battle you can triple cast Aard instantly, with a chance to instakill monsters each time.

Well, I am not a sign tree user so I don't know much after signs. I assume they don't work that nicely on boss monsters because 1 shot is too convincing. Also, this build involves protective coating, I am more into combat and alchemy. I have just finished the game on hard mode with ease. I am still certain this build will steam roll death march.

old thread but felt title was good for what I'm talking about here.... The other day I finally got my legendary Ursine set in NG+. Seems like I had every other superior legendary set first....but, anyway... first thing I noticed is that i could get to 75% monster damage resistance with the Grandmaster (yes, grandmaster) Chestpiece and the other 3 pieces Legendary. With Protective Coating I figured that would be great mitigation (I assumed it would be multiplicitive, though, not additive). Well, first monsters I tested on were the triple groups of giant Arachas in eastern Velen (armored, regular, and venomous).

To my surprise, as long as I had golden oriole up, they were all hitting me for 0.0 EVERY HIT. NOTHING got through (which was annoying cause that wouldbe great with water hag and wyvern but once you're past a certain toxicity threshold - yellow healthbar - you will NEVER ever be at full hp since you'll always be 1 off; that's off topic, though).

Fast forward to today. I have the same build and equipment on, but now I'm getting hurt my monsters. Even the same ones I was completely invulnerable when I first tested (I quickly flew over to those same lv ?? giant bugs to test)... What is going on? Does the game only allow 99% reduction and I encountered one of the many equip/stat bugs that first time and will never achieve it again (can't even get back there with griffin decoction). Someone help, it's driving me mad.

I've looked this up MANY times, and 9/10 people out there (even folks who say they are going by the data files themselves or have conducted HUGE tests on their own...) say that monsters ONLY deal monster damage (aside from any poison/fire/etc they may toss out - though anything but poison is almost nonexistant). SOME people say (I only see this when looking up Reliever's decoction) that they do all types of damage. Either way, even with Griffin decoction bringing all my other resistances up to like 99%, the damage they are doing to me is pertty much exactly the same. Which leads me to believe the 9/10 are correct and I just had a bugged initial experience with the Ursine armor where I had actual 100% reduction and from now on will only ever achieve 99%....

Can anyone confirm any of this? Thank you in advance (I know this isn't the theoycraft reddit, lol...)

Very anxious to find out, because I think a 100% monster invulnerability build with Euphoria (though not maxing out on toxicity) and Water hag+ Wyvern decoctions would be kinda fun...

Agreed. Cant confirm 100% but its most likely true.

:( Btw, I THINK (totally untested except for glancing a few numbers while I got hit for 30seconds) Wraiths alone(?) MAY do more than "monster" damage. Since they have swords (I think? some do? Either way, I say this bcause they seemed to do quite a bit more damage than the other monsters at ~99% resistance). Maybe anything with an actual weapon does non-monster damage (in addition to monster damage, if it is a monster). Maybe this is why I see posts from folks saying "regular" Wraiths hit too hard (and why Reliever decoction exists)...?
