Ведьмак 3: Дикая Охота

Merchant con artists
Seriously this is nonsense. I Sell A Relic quality sword and I get about 1100 for it and when I check the buyback cost for it, it's like 5k. We should get at least half of that.

I mean come on, why does it seem it's so hard to make money in the Witcher 3? And Before you ask yes I had in fact sold this sword to a blacksmith and not a regular merchant trust me I hunted around for the best profit I could get on this sword but the buy back flip ratio is ridiculous making it practically impossible to buy back any gear you want later in the game if you happen to want it back

You should at least be able to barter
its a game.
If Geralt could sell them at fair market value and buy at fair market value then he would get all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
economy in tw3's complete joke. HUGE influx of relic items you salvage from eg skellige doesnt suppress prices and merchant gold still replenishes same way in 3-4 days...

You try doing that in real life. Merchants always pay you what they are willing to. Any valuation you have for an item is based on what the average price it would sell for, not what the merchant will pay you. He's in business to make money. How does he do that if an item is worth $100 and he buys it from you for $100 and then goes and sells it for $100. It just doesn't work that way.

He knows what it's worth, knows pretty much what he can get for it but he needs to make a profit else he's in the wrong line of work so he offers you half or less hoping to get a bargain and turn it over for at least twice that to someone else.

Welcome to the real world.
you're forgetting one crucial fact, its a GAME not real life
The game does explain that merchants have a "mark up" mechanic, though i don't know why that really bothers you because pragmatically speaking, you're never buying that stuff back anyway.
You should be able to get at least half of what he merchant is selling it for so if the merchant is selling it for 5k he should be able to get 2.5k that still leaves the merchant with 2.5k profit. The fact that you only get like 10-15% really sucks

Honestly, that sounds stupid as hell. The last thing W3 needed was even more ways to amass mountains of gold.
Despite the god awful rates, I gotta agree with buzzard it's not hard to make money when you want to, especially late late game.
Yeah, the markup difference is essentially completely arbitrary. It makes it [making money] look worse than it is. It's not hard to make money, it just gives an unintuitive impression of the ingame economy.
