Stutter/Lag When Moving
AMD R9 280x
AMD FX-6350 Six Core Processor
8GB Ram

The problem is that whenever I move, I usually lag. This includes moving the camera. Though sometimes it can go for couple of seconds of being smooth, for both walking and moving the camera. If I attack, the first strike will usually freeze the game for like a milosec before swinging and if I keep striking it goes smoothly. I guess the same would go for spinning the camera around, which will slog through it before getting used to it and start spinning smoothly.

I've played this game through low, medium, and high but the same problem still occurs. I've turned off hairworks and Hardware Cursor since I've heard that fix some performance issues which I feel like it did but I still have those problems on top occuring.

Side problem, whenever I quit the game my profile says I'm still playing and the game music plays in the background for about 5 minutes and it slows down my computer. Wondering if someone else has this problem.

What is your background CPU usage? Meaning is it abnormally high before you get into your game? If you're getting into your game while your CPU is preoccupied with something that is using too much, can make your game run like crap. Seeing how you changed the settings to low and to high and it made no difference, makes me wonder if there is software outside your game making it run slow.

Windows 7 or 10?

Sounds more like your HDD is lagging behind.

I think youre running the game off HDD? Sometimes it hitches and hangs on my older 7200rpm HDD, which has a small cache size (only 16mb cache) While the game doesnt hitch and hang on my 7200rpm 64MB cache HDD.

It could simply be that youre running this massive game that loads tons of stuff from HDD from way too small cache HDD.

I've updated my video drivers. I haven't verified or ran the game with Steam shut down.

I'll try later but that doesn't seem to be the problem. I've seen people talk about similar issues but the only fix I've found seems to not be appliable probably because a patch changed it or something like that.

Should my game be running fine anyway? Maybe I underestimated my specs?

Has this game ran before, and now is suddenly not?

Windows 10, but every other game runs fine so I don't think it would just cause problems for this game.

Like ran without any problems? No, first time playing. Game time is mostly tweaking settings.

Just curious, what is your background CPU usage when you open your task manager?

Also I seriously doubt your HHD is the problem, most desktop HHDs have a decent cache anymore.

Below 10% with Steam
Around low 40% with Witcher 3 running

Have you tried a reinstall? Don't think it would help, but just narrowing things down. Your specs should be able to run this at low to medium settings without the stuttering

I really don't think this warrants a reinstall

As I said probably wouldn't help, but you never know. Narrowing down the list.

Thank you for the help anyway. I'll do it if I can't find any other solutions

Hi there, I too am having a problem even with some of the highest specs. EVEN on low graphics I lag every movement and step I take. My current specs are... I7 6700k 4 ghz, 5.2 overclocked,
16gb ram, wind10 64bit, gtx 1080 strix geforce, 1t SSD. I should be able to run this game in crisp shape. Although, I cannot. the game is unplayable. All my drivers are up to date, manually checked as well as nividia automatically updating my drivers for me. I have 9 fans around my pc, including watercooling. z170 asus progaming motherboard and so on.. But i cannot even run this on LOW graphics, turned v sinc off and on, nothing. Tried turning off hairworks which is the default for low and still nothing. Only happens in game, at lobby i can run ultra like butter on bread, so smooth. If anyone has any info Please help thank you

I can run League of legends in ultra and have 500 fps, I can also run Rainbow six siege in ultra and be fine. Same goes for shadow warrior 2, another demanding game.

Temperatures? this game taxes even a 1080 100% utilization, which means these "lesser games" like LOL etc dont pull it all the way trough.

How much is your GPU temp, and CPU temp, when you lag?
