Personally I like Triss, but she has those 'broken child' and 'daddy issues'. But out of the two she is by less likely to ♥♥♥♥ Geralt over if its suits her down the road. Not saying she wouldn't, just not as likely.
Also, if Ciri does not trust Yen, then why the hell should you?
I don't recall the part in the game where Ciri doesn't trust Yen, actually i remember during one of the later conversations she seemed less pleased about your relationship with Triss rather than Yen.
You are oversimplifying. People like one or another for many different reasons. Those you mentioned are far from being the only ones.
Some do not even care for character traits or lore. They just drool over the exotic redhead with the green eyes and other over the sexy goth chick with purple eyes. It goes from reasons as superficial as these to reasons like some people actually identifying themselves with the characters and taking things way too much to heart.
Personally, if I were to ignore all the lore and backstory and put asside my disgust for Triss´s character, I still find her terribly dull and cringy.
I have that opinion of her since W2 and W1 which I didn´t even touched the books at that time. Although, the two voice actresses who played Triss should take most of the blame for that. Both of them were horribly amateurish.
Also, in all 3 games, ignoring the books, Geralt and Triss have no chemestry. They are so awkward together.
For Yen, also ignoring the lore and backstory, I find her type of female character much more interesting and appealing in every way. Kinda like Morrigan from DA series.
Irrelevant. Tbh.
Ciri was also a murderer and a bandit for some time. Should we be putting Ciri to a stake now?
Also, that is some bs right there anyway, since she actually is really close to Yen. She goes as far as calling her "mommy" in the books and expresses her will to be called Cirilla of Vengeberg... take it for what it is worth, I guess.
Lambert and Eskel also distrust Yen. Does it matter? Nope. Lambert even gets with one who also uses Geralt during the game... some expert he is, right?
Daddy issues? I played through all three games at least twice, what did I miss?
Well, actually (major spoilers)
It doesn't take much convincing to send her to Kaer Morhen, where she ends up getting together with Lambert. And she didn't want the notes for anything illicit. She uses them to make a plague cure if you let her keep them.
Perhaps, but no one tricks me without being called out for it. Sadly things escelated way too fast for her own good.
Think about it this way, Lambert and Yen are two of the same when it comes to bitchiness, both of which roots from their rough pasts, but no one seems to dislike lambert with a passion like some do Yen.
The way I see it, neither of them need to put up a nice front to be Geralts friend or lover. Because when it comes down to it both of them will go to hell and back for Geralt and Ciri and that matters more than being polite and nice.
Morrigan? They are way too different.
Morrigan actually doesn't care about anything besides herself, her 'possible son' or a romanced warden. Yen plays the part of concerned citizen way too often and way to unbelievable.
Dunno I'm sorta flattered when women try to trick me into sex :)
No, I don´t mean that they are really similar to one another in motivations.
I meant that they are the more mature, more mysterious, kinda ♥♥♥♥♥♥ sometimes, type of female character.
Personal motivations/agenda asside.
Much more interesting to me than the giggity teenage drama stereotype that Triss falls in. Nothing wrong with liking that, it is a matter of taste. But that is one of the first things that made me initially dislike her, and then it was just a matter of pilling up all the other small and really huge things like the rolling snowball effect.
