Got a popup for this quest when i was searching for wolf school gear but i couldnt track the quest... What do i do?

I had this happen too and never figure out what caused it or what it did. I was still able to do the quest like normal.

I thought you'd either need to read about it or be near forge already and find something odd for this to start...

It started in the cave where some wolven gauntlets are, guarded by an earth elemental.

There's a book in the Kaer Morhen fortress that will allow you to proceed with that quest. Just search inside.

It's in the area at the base of one of the towers (where the stairs rise up into the tower from), on a bench I think. I can't remember which tower.

I think that fight's right by forge so depending on where people click they've already investigated :) And yeah book's in KM.
