How to upgrade witcher gear?
I have griffin school gear, and the game said that there could be upgrades for the gear to make it better. How do I do that?

When you meet a new swordsmith or blacksmith, check their sales for quest-starting items. Usually called "such-and-such's third map" or whatever. Once you buy those, have Geralt read them. This will add treasure hunt quests to your quest list, and this is how you can begin the process of farming upgrade diagrams. You'll find them all over Velen and Skellige regions, all the way up to "mastercrafted" versions.

In the Blood and Wine DLC, there are grandmaster versions. Each iteration requires the version which comes before it, however, so if you eventually want to grandmaster a suit, plan on getting all of the diagrams.

As stated above, the upgrades are basically upgraded versions of the armor you are using, and to be able to make those armors, you must first find the diagrams for them, and you can find the diagrams by buying the treasure maps for each armor style from merchants.

Yeah you need to find appropriate diagram for next upgrade in chain. It's upgrade so you'll use your original gear as ingredient which gets replaced by new gear when you craft.
