[SPOILERS] Some things i do not understand about the whole story
Hello everyone, I just finished Witcher3 and i am confused about the whole story, i played the witcher2 a bit, but didn't finish it because it seemed so bad and didn't pull me in, so i quit the game around the time i ended chapter1. Now i'm going to ask couple questions about the whole trilogy, if you did not finish Witcher3, please do not read below.

[SPOILERS]

1- From a video i watched, i heard that Ciri was actually the one who revived Geralt and Yennefer, is this true ? If it is, how is that possible ? For all i know, Geralt died very long time ago, in some sort of riot. They murdered him with a pitchfork, and Yennefer died from exhaustion while trying to revive Geralt. How does Ciri come in all of this ? Isn't she even not born yet ? Because in beginning of Witcher3, we see Ciri as a child and we're alive in Kaer Morhen with Yennefer, is it even before we die, or is it much later ? I don't get the timeline, how does Ciri even exist when we die ? Can someone explain this briefly like explaining to an idiot, please ?

2- What is the Wild Hunt actually ? At first apperance, i thought they were some undead skeletons like draugrs in Skyrim, but later on i found they have a whole different world they live in, they have their own politics and kings, they are alike elves or humans, what do they want ? Why they use cold/freeze as their element, why they open up portals and can come to our world whenever they please ? What will they do once they have Ciri, they already teleport from place to place easily as i found out battling them. Who the hell are they ?

3- The emperor of Nilfgaard is the father of our Ciri. Then how did Ciri end up in Kaer Morhen as a child ? Why did witchers took the kid and started to train her ? Shouldn't emperor's children be kept in castles, palaces and live among the servants ? Why did we get Ciri and not her own father ? How did she end up with us ?

4- Why the king in red (don't recall the name) wants to kill every mage ? What did mages do to him ? Who is Priscella and why did the king gauged her eyes out and not killed her instanlty ? What's the whole story behind them ? In the game i was set up to gather the mages together, but i did not know any of them except Yen and Triss, who is Keira and the others ? When did we cross paths with them ?

5- I heard the whole game is based on books, if so, is there going to be a Witcher4 game, or did the series ended for good ?

1. No, it was a unicorn from another dimension where Ciri brings Yen and Geralt. It was around 5 years before TW1 starts. Ciri was a teenager then. In the beginning of TW3 Geralt has a nightmare. It's just a nightmare though it contains links to various true elements of Ciri's story while she was in Kaer Morhen (that was long before Geralt & Yen died).

2. Wild Hunt or Red Riders is a military force of Aen Elle king. Aen Elle is a race of elves that descends from the same elves race as Aen Seidhe (who happened to stuck in Geralt's world after Conjunction of Spheres). Eredin wants his nation to be transported from his dying world to a new one - Geralt's world. Eredin lacks resources to do this in time (he can only move considerably small portions of troops) - this is why he needs Ciri as she was designed to achieve this goal.

3. In short, Geralt saved Emhyr's life when he was cursed and wasn't an emperor. He used The Law of Surprise to take the price, and thus he got the right to take Ciri with him when she is born. Ciri now is Geralt's child of Destiny. Then happened a long and complex chain of events, Cintra is in ruins, Geralt found Ciri and took her to Kaer Morhen where he and his friends trained her to use sword and be agile as they didn't know what to do with her since they were unable to produce new witchers. Original saga written by A. Sapkowski covers these and later events leading to Geralt's and Yen's death.

4. As you remember from TW2, Radovid had hard childhood under Philippa's shadow, this and Lodge's inadequate political ways made him hostile towards not just Lodge and powerful sorceresses but towards most of mages. He ordered to remove her eyes in TW2 once she was captured. Most of the mages you see in the trilogy came from books (Keyra, Fringilla, Assire and other members of Lodge, for example).

5. The trilogy is over. This is the end of Geralt's story. CDPR stated that they consider to return to Witcher universe someday but that surely won't be soon. Right now they got Cyberpunk 2077 on the road.

@Living Broscillograph

Thank you, it helped a lot.

I got the bittersweet ending myself, but just watched the bad ending and it's so well written, that i feel so depressed right now watching it. Really should give credit to author of the books, and of course the creators of the game. Do you know how the books ended ? Which one of the three endings in the real one in books ?
Neither.
The books cover events from Geralt's first day on the road till his death in Rivian Pogrom (and some time after that).
The games trilogy tells its own story that happens several years after the books' story ends.

Oh, and there's also one more thing i want to ask.

During the search for the sunstone with Philippa, she told me that she will replace the Yennefer's position in Nilfgaard and she told me to be with her when she does this. I chose to end up with Triss, and retire from everything. When i ended the game, game gave me no epilogue about Yennefer, so what became of her ? I thought Triss was better than her, but i never wanted Yen to rot in some dungeon without me.
Nobody knows :) Probably she'll be hiding somewhere on North and returns to her struggle with her inability to have children. Probably not. We can only be sure in what Dandelion tells through his poetic prism (which is not accurate and sometimes perverts the truth. Last Wish story is a perfect example of what happened and what people know based on Dandelion's ballad).

Yenner goes into hiding in the North.
SPOILERS
If you go with Yen you will have sex every day for the rest of your life in a quiet hut like Geralt always wanted (in the books). They will probably live out their days living a farmlife in Toussaint (if you did the dlc) or somewhere in the North. Geralt will have his cattle and sheep he dreamed of while Yen will be making simple potions and will have the role of local witch. In the books he hoped that Ciri will visit him with her family while Dandelion comes to the town once in a while to be himself and wreak havoc in the local whorehouse.

I just don't see Yennefer and Geralt living a calm life like that. In my opinion they are both very dominant characters, and the excitement, things going around their life, the action is what keeps them together for all this time. If they finally put everything aside and retire from everything, it would be impossible to live together. I just feel Yennefer will be bored as hell, and slightly be more ♥♥♥♥♥♥ every single day, finally making Geralt regret his decision to live with her. On the other hand Triss gave me the impression that she is the one to settle down with. I can imagine Geralt retiring with Triss and living happily after, just not with Yen.

Now that i understood a lot of the things about the story, i want to clarify the timeline. So things happened like this:

1) Geralt and Yennefer are two lovers who live together, they adopt Ciri
2) Geralt dies, Yen dies trying to save him, Ciri takes them to another world, they revive by some unicorn
3) Wild Hunt is looking for Ciri, so they decide to capture Yennefer in order to bait Ciri to themselves.
4) Geralt searches for his love, finds Wild Hunt with Letho and offers his soul instead of Yen.
5) Wild Hunt lets Yen go, erasing her memory in the process but the mages of Nilfgaard helps Yen recover her memory pretty easily.
6) Geralt escapes the Wild Hunt somehow (really blank here, how do they let him?) and he loses his memory in the process
7) Geralt looks for ways to gain his memory back, thats how he meets Triss, and they somehow end up with Foltest, and Foltest gets assasinated by Letho
8) Geralt gains his memory, kills Letho, finds Vesemir, and looks for Yennefer (start of W3)

is this timeline correct ?

Read the books, worth it. Sapkowski even wrote Season of Storms. So it shows how greatly we love the books.

Release date
6 November 2013 (Poland)
17 May 2018 (UK)

Not to mention u missed "The Dream Team" Cahir-Milva-Dandelion-Regis-Zoltan..

+ Borch , oh I wished to see him in TW3 and wanted a meeting between him and Regis... Same goes for Ciri & Regis meeting... Scrapping Saskia from TW3 was a low blow..

It's a REALLY simplified version of the events in the book. You can read most of them in English. I'm lucky enough to know Polish.

Yea, compared to him Emhry is a puppy. A show off between him and Vilge would been interesting. But I can never forgive him what he did to Hen Gedymdeith. He killed a living legend.

holy moly, i didn't even recognize %70 of the names here

this is one complex game we have there
Glokenpop Jan 31, 2017 @ 3:23pm
I still forgot Cahir (black knight's name) and like I said, this is a really simple version of what happened. There's still Coral, Keira, Zoltan, Toruviel, Dijkstra, Sabrina Glevisig, Fringilla Vigo, Sheldon Skaggs, Radcliffe, Terranova, Visenna, Chivay, Knight Guy from Lady of the Lake (Galahad I think), Jarre, Nenneke, Angouleme, Bonhart the giant ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ guy and that's all I remember right now. They all played atleast a minor role.
Edit: Condwiramurs Tilly was the most ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up name for me (Ihuarraquax is even beter) and her cute little master Nimue verch Wledyr ap Gwyn aka Squirt (it sounds better in polish)
My brain hurts...
