Good place to charge Aerondight
Just got it.. problem is, I'm 2-3 shotting everything. So I'd need like 5 enemies at once to get the bonus damage, which is pretty rare. Am I supposed to unequip my skills or something to make it work?

I also found that you can charge it by fighting humans/beasts with it, but the damage is extremely low.. maybe unless I take it to some low level area where it can actually kill things in reasonable time.

Do you use rend a lot? Might have to use more normal sword strikes every time you level up, until it maxxes out again. My build is sign heavy, when I level up I have to make a point of holding back on signs (except yrden), and rely mostly on fast attacks. Doesn't take very long.

No rend, I'm using fast attacks, which do around 5k damage before charges. It would drop considerably if I don't use decoctions, but I'd have to meditate every time I want to put them on/off, which is pretty inconvenient.

You want just over 10 hits per kill so that you can level up on each monster. Those spiders I've found are the best, there are 5 or so in each group I marked, just pick them off one at a time when you need to level up. You may not level up on each monster but there are enough spiders there that you should be able to level up the next maximum. You need lots of light attacks, no oils, no potions etc that increase your damage, no signs that do damage. Axii or Yrden can help.

Wow uh, yeah there are quite a few enemies, but is there a less annoying option? Spiders are the second worst enemy type in the game in my opinion (after rockworms), they just keep running away for hours. And their pounce attack seems to break Quen *and* drop your stacks at the same time.

I still often use drowners at whale graveyard on skellige and the harpies/cyclops a bit east (near place of power). Its also a good place for farming red mutagens if you need em. Also turn on enemy upscaling so you dont one hit them.

Avoid the pounce and once you land a fast hit just keep fast hitting until they die, if you don't pause they can't retreat fast enough or get a counterattack in (usually) so one monster one ungrade. The trick is to isolate one spider off from the rest and getting that first hit in, getting it up against a tree, cliff or anything to stop the retreat will help.

If you really don't like the spiders there are the Neckers south of the Devils Pit and the Gouls south west of them (the ones attacking the fistech dealer you rescued in one of the first quests when you were burning the bodies for the priest of the eternal fire). There are also some Gouls east of the Devils pit. Not as quick with these as with the spiders though as it will take a few monster kills for one upgrade.
I didn't spend much time with the aerondight mechanics so I'm not sure, but would it not be possible to use it on wolves? Since the silver swords do much less damage on wolves than steel it should be much easier to get the necessary hits without nuking all the enemies.
