How many alchemy recipes am I supposed to have?
Trying to maximize the benefit of Acquired Tolerance, how many recipes of each type are there? I tried to look it up, but all the pieces information I've found contradict each other.

I'm currently at
15 Substances (6 mutagens and 9 ingredients)
3 Alcohol
24 Bombs
28 Decoctions
36 Oils
38 Potions
4 Quest

Which adds up to 248 toxicity, same as what the tooltips suggest. But from what I'm seeing, it is possible to get closer to 300. I'm early into HoS expansion, so I still have that and B&W to go through, but do they really offer that many points? Apparently dyes no longer count, so that doesn't help much.

BuzzardBee, consider making your profile public so others can ask you questions. Nice answer. Good to know all of this.

Fun fact: I never used a decoction when I first played in 2015 as I thought they were one time use. I am using them now against the red skull enemies on Death March. I do think there are way too many though.

P.S: I have some questions if i can add you/ share them.

Uh I already know that, I'm asking if there are any other recipes I might've missed or that come in DLCs. Afaik there should be one more quest recipe in B&W, which will bring my toxicity up to 249, still only enough for one potion after using three decoctions, meaning I have to invest in fast metabolism if I want to use more without using Manticore/+30 skill.

By the way, you missed Drowner Pheromones, which count as a potion instead of a quest item, for a total of 38 potions.

What do mutations/skills/runewords have to do with Acquired Tolerance at all?

There are 38 potions in my alchemy tab (if I enable the "already crafted" filter), which adds +38 to maximum toxicity. 36 of them are upgradable potions (12x3), plus Killer Whale and Drowner Pheromones. It is not considered a quest item because technically it has uses outside the quest, and even if it was, quest recipes also contribute to Acquired Tolerance.

Heightened Tolerance competes against Endure Pain, since they don't work together afaik. I'd take no health loss for regular gameplay, but 50% extra HP is probably better for bosses. I'll probably end up taking both and switch between them as needed, though so far I haven't encountered any bosses difficult enough to require going to such extremes.

Okay, started B&W today and there are recipes for transmuting mutagens.

I had all superior oils, but in NG+ I got an enhanced dragon oil in the quest with Eskel in Khaer Morhan. Now I have them both in my inventory.

Yep you can get duplicates from quest. Vesemir also gives you a Superior Swallow if you ask for potions instead of traps. That doesn't matter though, since the perk is based on the formulas you learnt, not on what you have in your inventory.
