Is it possible to kill merchants?
If you drag an explosive barrel near them and set it on fire, would that kill them? I'm asking because I "accidentally" blew up a barrel in the middle of Novigrad, it killed a guard and nobody suspected a thing. If you blow up a merchant with several thousand gold, would it let you loot it afterwards?

I could loot the guards though. Also there was a bug where you could push a bee hive to a merchant and it would kill him, letting you take all the gold. I think it was patched so the bees no longer attack NPCs, dunno if they changed anything about looting.

Just a theory lol. I finished the game and want to mess around before maybe going on to NG+, who's there to stop me? Besides, merchants respawn anyway.

The blacksmith in Hierarch Square has over 6 thousand gold, btw. And they can have way more if you buy all their junk.

None of games so far handled merchant loot consistently. If merchant has tons of items in inventory you'd expect killing them'd give you access to all those items but oh no not that. Still hoping to see one game once that handles trade correctly. Either limited inventory or payment first and delivery later or gimme all that loot when I kill ya.

Morrowind mostly does that. In fact, many or most of their items are not just in their inventory - it is stashed in their shop - on shelves and in boxes, feel free to steal using stealth and telekinesis, but don't sell it back to them because they'll know and call guards.

I would love this to be true. I can't wait to kill that dumb Hattori. I can't believe he wouldn't give me discount. After my Geralt basically helped him start up his business. After my Geralt placed so many elite sword orders with him. He is so rich, he still charges me for 100% of item price. If blowing him up with a powder keg will bring me back the money i spend on his worthless smithy... i will do it even if i have to drag one from Velen swamp.
