He means showing the megascope to either Triss or Yennefer.
It doesn't matter that it has no major importance in the quest. If you read his post, he says having a red marker "stings his eyes", so for him it's important.
Actually giving it to Yennefer somehow didn't give me a red marker in regards to Triss.
i got the crystal and showed it to Triss but i kept it for myself. Then i kept playing all the way to The Last Wish quest. After completing it you can talk to Yen. I showed the crystal to her but again i kept it for myself ( first time i gave her the crystal right away but then my green checkmark on Triss turned to red), Then i opend my journal and i had both green checkmarks on Triss and Yen. Now i could do what ever i wanted with the damn thing ( Triss, Yen, Radovid ). I tried.
Yeah, as I had told you, showing it to Yen gives a green checkmark on Triss. You didn't even had to show it to Triss. As long as you show it to Yen, you get green marks on both.
