Only Workshop can save this game.
Giving the community the ability to improve the game has worked for so many other titles. People making custom maps, custom game modes, new missions, etc.

Ah i must've missed something. I didn't realize it needed saving lol
I think it would be awesome to have modded maps/modes. I imagine a killing floor style mod with waves and special infected. Would be pretty awesome.
all we can do is keep talking about it and gain popularity hopefully the devs will listen
The only zombie games with high player count are the ones with Workshop support, not difficult to realize that. There is a reason why Project Zomboid & Left 4 Dead have a big audience.

Also, their previous game Chivalry 2 has even more players. Unlike Chivalry, it's not niche enough to keep enough players around in the years to come, if new content comes only slowly (which mod support would fix). Maybe they can A.I. rewrite the whole game into another engine, if UE5 sucks when it comes to mod support.

Exactly, even with Skyrim. A game that came out in what 2011-2012? To this day currently still has more players than this game because of mods. It's not an insult to their craft, but games where they make the tools and let the people run wild usually has the best result.
doesnt need saved

Unreal Engine doesn't suck for modding. Its reflection system allows modders to dump most classes and functions in a readable and usable format. The pak system allows you to create pak mods that are loaded into the game without third-party tools, and we have FModel and many other tools to datamine almost anything from an UE game.

But it comes down to the developers to support modding. They disable .pak loading and add anti-cheat software, which makes modding harder.

There are also frameworks like mod.io that make it easier to integrate modding into the game and upload and download mods directly through them.
Look at Deep Rock Galactic for reference.
While I disagree about the "saving" part, since it's not yet about to die + still gets updates like the one announced for this month.

I agree this game being one of the games, which should also support modded/custom/... services on private servers.

(also do I hope, if the game "dies", its not taken offline but still usable/playable with private servers or LAN. Since this game is one of the games you can enjoy with friends and are also perfect for LAN parties (I know, I am old.. some of you might not even know what LAN parties are and how fun they were))

Me and four friends bought this game, and honestly thats the only time I have had a small semblance of a good time in this game. We shared loot, we coordinated, and fought together. It was fun, but we ran through all the maps, and aren't captivated by the loot/customization/progression aspects of this game. Its not getting updates quick enough to keep the momentum going unfortunately. Even the old game Zombie Panic Source had it right by letting modding happen and that game had an almost 20 year run.

Tried playing a few times with randoms in queue, no one talks, coordinates, or shares and its either rushing to the end, or people bailing on eachother without warning. I know thats not exactly the games fault but the gaming climate itself. It's just needs stuff to keep it fresh, like someone adding a new map from a different game, or a new mode, all which modders are enthusiastic and happy to oblige. As it stands, me and my 4 friends don't touch this game anymore.
Resident Evil 1 Movie Mission. Start at top make through lab and laser hall. Get sample to train.
