Hello everyone, first of all I want to apologize for the long silence.

These past months have been quite unusual, split between a very demanding work period and another side project that has been doing well.

This silence was due to my own indecision and a change of direction for Deity’s Domain, because the way the game was heading no longer satisfied me.
The game was moving toward a structure that was too story driven and not “free” enough compared to what I originally had in mind. Deity’s Domain started with the idea of being a complete sandbox, but the feeling when playing was not that of being a deity, more like a babysitter managing their city.
So I decided to start over. I know many of you may not like this, but since I am developing Deity’s in my free time and for personal enjoyment, I did not want to continue with something that would have been more of a burden than a passion. For sure, I would not have reached the kind of result I had envisioned from the very beginning.

If you are wondering what I am aiming for with this new beginning and what will remain from what we have seen, I will try to give you a vision of the direction I would like to take.
I am aiming for a pure sandbox. To give the true powers of a deity, you need an entire world, a world that can be shaped from its very beginning, a world where you can act in total freedom: creating mountains, raising and lowering sea levels, or draining them down to the abyss. I want you to be the ones to create forests, resources, and life.
I want the player to see cities being born and growing, to be able to wipe out all forms of life and start again, or to nurture them and make them prosper, whether simply for the pleasure of seeing them destroyed or of watching what they created flourish.
So there will be less direct city management than before, but management more focused on the whole and on the balance of the world’s ecosystem.
The giant hand you are used to seeing in Deity’s will remain and move as it always has, but it will act on a round planet and oversee the entire domain, from the birth of the planet as a ball of rock to its later version full of water and life.
And you will be able to freely look at every corner of your domain, from space down to the cities and the life inhabiting them.
The setting will also not change: it will remain Norse and mythological.

I am also aware this will extend development time, even if much of the existing logic can be reused.

Updates will not be constant and monthly as before, but I will return from time to time to keep you posted, and when the moment comes I will also update the Steam page.
