Elminage Gothic

ITEM list?
We really need an item list, for example there shields that turn you good or evil, items like hermit knife change you to ninja, various items change you stats items that change your breath to holy, by the way which breath is best?

There are some item lists on the Japanese wiki: http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ja&u=http://spoiler2.sakura.ne.jp/srv2/elg/

Of course, it would be exceedingly helpful if they were updated with the updated English translations. I've started up a Wiki for the english version of the game, and I've been populating it quite a bit, but I'd be very grateful for any help. The english wiki can be found here:

I think it would be ideal to recreate the template and try to figure out what's the actual translation of every item written. Also gotta be careful since there's also parts that are listing 3ds only though iirc it's written when it's 3ds only.

Well, I realized that the ITEM.csv file in the game files has all the correct translations and the stats as well. The real pain is deciding which stats are most useful (there's a ton of stats), possibly figuring out some of the unlabeled stats, and reformatting everything into something useful to look at. I've pulled ITEM.csv into google docs, and I'm fine with sharing the end product as a spreadsheet, but there's a ton of work in reformatting to be done.

The japanese wiki is at least of use to look at until we can reformat the item file into something more useful.

I think importent will vary by the item... certainly you don't want every column for every item, but the importent stats common to all items woudl be damage, accuracy, range, and who can equip for weapons.... AC, and who can equip for armor and accessories. Any other special effects, resistances, traits, and uses shoudl be noted separately.

Fair enough. I'm working on sorting those details into readable bits. There's all kinds of fun in there, such as a ???? race, Goblins and other odd races that you can't create (Probably related to summon contract + soul pacted monsters), lots of fun bits.

OK, here's a first pass at cleaned-up item data as a google spreadsheet. I'm sharing read-only, if you want to help, send me a message and I can add you for modify.

Yeh there are items that don't drop and can't be stolen. But with this list you can also double check the items on the Japanese wiki by comparing their stats. Then you have the Japanese names and you can probably figure out where they drop or are stolen. If the item isn't in the list in the JP wiki chances are it's not possible to get it anyhow. Dark Crystal from the end boss is one such example apparently.

If you've got access to the Japanese PSP game, the data files in there have the Japanese names in their CSV files; you can map the ID number in the English ITEM.CSV with the same one in the Jaoanese CSV.
Heh, nope, I don't have access to the JP PSP game, and even if I did have access, I'd have no idea what to do. I can only look at the japanese wiki through google translate, tbh.

I could get you a quick dump of names, but I forgot there was a small amount of 'damage'/watermarking to the files on the PSP version to make decoding difficult I assume.

Is it just item names you need to match up? Or monsters too?

Well, I'm starting to wonder what the use of the PSP files really is... I mean, I've got the actual data files I decoded from the port we're playing. Decoding the PSP files isn't going to change the list of Items I've got. Am I missing something?

English Name -> English ID No -> Japanese ID No (which is the same as in the English file) -> Japanese Name -> reference Japanese wiki without having to guess at the translation.

It's not necessary, it just might make the more bizzare names or odd translations easier to work out.

K, I don't think I really need it. The only thing that might be helpful with is the drop tables, and I think I can work out that info from the .csv files of the english version. Thanks for the offer though!

A couple of the races were started for the PSP version, but not compelted and included in this version of the game. They were included in the later DS version of the game. Their data exists, at least in part, in the data files in our version, but they are not actually playable on the PC.

Something I just noticed, some items may be cursed only when equiped by certain classes/races/genders. For example, some holy items equiped by Devilish characters, or silver items like the Silver Cloak, which acts as cursed equipment if equiped by Werebeast.

Also try to include any activatable effects, like the Flamberge flame when used, , or Item Encyclopedia's +1 Intelligence if activated when equiped.

So, yeah, I saw that cursed was per race/class/gender, but the reality was that *most* items were either cursed or not. So, I squished that down to cursed or not based on the human race, and whether things could be equipped by race/class/gender.

I've left activatable effects in the item spreadsheet, but the effects are numbers referencing some other data file, and I haven't gone and tried to translate those yet. At the moment, it's fairly easy to see if an item has an activatable effect.
