That's not a very constructive viewpoint to have. The reality here is that we're paying for an incomplete port of the unbalanced PSP version of this game. I'm glad we're getting it, but the store page should make a point that one of the key features of the series has been omitted. Otherwise some people will buy this game and feel cheated when they find customization missing. That's uncool.
I'd have been willing to pay substiantially more than $9.99 for a complete port of the game. Sounds like a lot of other people would have too. If Ghostlight cut the custom features because it wasn't worth the associated costs, then they need to hear that their price point was far too low and that this decision may turn away potential customers.
If the option was cut for other reasons then I'd be curious as to what those were.
Durgha just responded what I was thinking and way better :) I think it's wrong for us to just accept things and be glad. It's not just for games it can apply in real life too!
But I appreciate the initiative to try to bring this kind of games from Japan and I hope they get lot's of money and release more and more games :) When they see that we care about these little details they can avoid cuts and stuff and maybe release a DLC (I'm not a fan of DLC but it's better than nothing)
Cuts should be avoided as a standard games should be translated and be just like the original if you can add stuff okay but do not remove things unless it's bugs! I would prefer worse graphics if he game was 100% like the original!
Wireframe get's old very fast. Have seen them enough in my life.
So for me these are all just gimmicks, that I don't miss.
Your best bet is to find a group of fans-translators and give them your $10 in donations and ask them to inject the translation from this game into the original PSP image and go from there.
Which makes more sense - since these are precisely the kind of games to play 'on the go'.
"Clearly" would imply an explanation beyond Ghostlight making an arbitrary decision to cut the feature, which is all that was stated. If you're privy to information beyond what the dev posted by all means share it.
It's plausible the feature was cut due to time restraits or cost prohibitive factors. Offering to throwing money at developers has the potential to resolve both those issues. Granted there are lots of other reasons it could have been omitted, but right now we don't have that information.
I've only tried it out with Letterbox.dds since that was my irritation; but you should be able to replace all the music/sound effects by creating files named EL3SE_001.ogg to EL3SE_216.ogg
001 I believe is the intro theme so if you swap that out you'd be able to tell if your tune works; on a random note for some reason 193 seems to be a chainsaw revving up sound. :P
You can do a similar trick with the portraits to I believe; it's just you need four images instead of one music track; and they need to be in dds format (so paint.net is your friend).
GR10_201.dds is the first portrait; the closest in face on the walking-around-the-dungeon.
GR10_202.dds is the same face, but a slightly more zoomed out face.
GR11_201.dds is the knees-up full-length portrait of the same guy.
GR11_202.dds is the feet-to-head full-length portrait of the same guy. (brown hair, brown and red pants, brown top, you can probably guess which one from the description).
GR10_203, GR10_204, GR11_203, GR11_204 follow the same pattern but with a blue tuniced blond guy.
295/296 are the last pair of character portraits.
The GR11 ones are 1088 pixels square, the GR10 are 192 pixels square.
Anyway, it's 4am in the morning and I should be in bed. Got distracted looking at interesting things. :)
Edit: fixed typos due to lack of sleep. :P
Thanks Darke.
You really think I screwed this by accident?
Think again!
There is a massage hidden (Wizardry-style)!
Spoiler:
I give a ♥♥♥♥ about "customizable characters's portrait and music"-weenies!
(That's so un-Wizardry!)
:]
