Do achievements work offline?
Will achievements for Pillars appear if you do them offline and then go online?

One of the sad realities of Steam.

Actually some games check when you start them. Pillars is one of those games. I've completed things in game that would get me the achievements offline and as soon as I logged in online, the achievements were there.

Don't understand achievments or their allure. Never will.

What are y'all? Kindergarten kids who need a gold star to boost your self esteem?

Some of you guys might wanna look into getting a girlfriend. Way better esteem booster than a Steam achievment.

I have one, actually; she's good looking and fun. She reminds me of a girl that I had a major crush on, back in school; back when I had ♥♥♥♥ for confidence. It kind of makes her feel like a second chance, and so far the relationship has been the most drama-free one of my life; and I've had a good amount of them. We've been together almost two years now; which isn't a record for me or anything, but I figure it's still noteworthy.

But all that said; nothing raises the spirits like a good smile, and I'm still hoping to see one from you. I'll freaking tickle you, if I have to; I'm not above it. I've set my self-esteem bar pretty low, it keeps me happy; there''s less that I have to live up to. Besides; if there's one thing that life has taught me, trying to please the average-joe is a losing game. Even if you make 'im happy, for a time; he's liable to let you down sooner or later. And in your case; I'm already feeling letdown. You can't even bother to come up with an original insult.

There was never an insult intended though I can understand why one might believe that was the intent.

My post was a simple I don't get it please explain post. The gold star reference was simply a way of expressing my wonder that grown men could express concern over something as meaningless (to me) as a STEAM achievment. Not being one to mince words I can however see why some with low esteem might take the query as an insult.

Thanks for exposing yourself as a troll; now I don't have to worry about you at all. And for the record; I don't care about achievements either. Check the kickstarter achievement thread, if you want to see how I feel about it.

/shrug Unlike most people, I kind of have to make myself visible online. I have no intention of giving anyone anything that they can use against me; but I am trying to get my writing career off of the ground, and making myself visible is a part of that. And if you're wondering; yeah, it's part of the reason that I am here. No; I'm not above admitting it. But the fact of the matter is; I'm just doing something that I would do for fun anyway. I've been using message boards and the like for years, since I was a teen. The only difference is that now I'm opening up more than I used to.

But if you've seen me on here; you'll probably have noticed that while I have been a frequent presence on this board, I haven't gone out of my way to be a people pleaser. I'm not going to kiss ass just to make people happy. My work isn't like that, and I wouldn't want to give anyone the wrong impression about me. I'm not trying to attract the easily-offended crowd. If you're not open-minded, and if you're not willing/able to deal with the rude and the crude and the politically incorrect, my work won't be for you. So there's no sense in me kissing ass or anything like that.
"I have no intention of giving anyone anything that they can use against me".....OK

What do you find weird about that? Is it that you think that I'm doing that already? Like I said; that's par for the course with my work. I have to have at least a fair degree of visibility. Or is it that you think that it sounded paranoid? Because I'm just talking like the usual kind of internet safety procedures here, and nothing more than that.

I wonder how nobody called out the "get a girlfriend" guy yet with "What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with your girlfriend instead?"

Sure enough, the guy's profile is private, so we won't see him playing 80 hrs a week, talking about mythical girlfriend he never had, unless we count his right hand as one.

Enough thread derailment guys. The simple fact is the OP asked a question and the answer is yes, achievements work offline for Pillars and some other games. Depends on if the game is programmed to make the check when you go online. IN some games I've noticed the achievement pops offline but the associated picture on the window is blank. Still keeps track though.
