Whoever thought of this specific aspect of the reputation system did a terrible job.
After insulting a single individual in twin elms, everyone in that area hates me, so I have no choice but to kill them all. Destroying any chance of doing any major quests in that reigion. Completely ruined the game for me.

I have no idea what the devs wanted in this regard. Did they want me to reload my save from an hour ago? Utterly ridiculous.

Failed four major events because of this stupid system.

the whole point of this game is the story and the quests. how can you not see the big deal? this whole aggressive faction thing completely breaks immersion. i can't talk to a single npc, nor can i do any of their quests because im forced to kill them, unless of course i restart my game. a complete joke. i suddenly massacre an entire civilization and become a child killer after one dialogue. everyone hates me because i said, "does that spear compensate for something?" or something along the lines. ridiculous. they had a budget of 3 million as well. couldnt' they have thought of something else. like how divinity did it.

Anger is not good in RL...let it out here...feel better?? Now, was it the Ice elves in the northern part of the map? Can you just reload a previous save? Are you drinking to much coffee?? Is your bong clogged up? (mine is)

What the hell did you do?

I killed the noble guy in twin elms that wanted me to go kill the child so it could be reborn into his family, and his entire crew, and i was still liked in Twin Elms afterwards.

You must have killed someone that wasnt asking for it i guess. There's many parts in the game where you have dialogue option that will start a fight, doesnt mean that you SHOULD. It's a consequence for killing a bunch of people. If someone came into my town and killed a whack of people after insulting them, then yeah, i wouldnt deal with them either, and would probably try to kill them.

This game harkens back to a time in PC-RPG history in which actions have consequences.

If there's an exit point, anywhere nearby; you can kill your way to it and then travel out. The next time you return, if your rep isn't completely ruined, the NPCs should leave you alone.

i didn't kill anyone. it was the guard at the north exit at the first twin elms town you reach. it happened through a single dialogue. something along the lines of "i bet that spear is compensating for something." then suddenly everyone turns hostile.

oh god i wish i knew that. i fought my way to the inn before exiting.

yes, and I have played all those games. but this is the worst sort of consequence i've ever seen. i didn't even damage any npc's. and it was my first time in twin elms, and literally the second npc i talked to.

why i'm so frustrated is because this is the region i was interested in going through in the ENTIRE game and then when i finally get to it, i say something wrong, and suddenly the entire territory is hostile, and i have to kill every npc and quest giver in the entire region. completely eradicating all the stories in this region, and as far as i know this entire region is the main part of act 3.

Honestly sounds like a bug as your reputation shouldn't go down that far if you were just starting there. In testing builds I annihilated the entire inn and left, in spite of that I didn't get atacked on sight when wandering the city. I would reload a previous save and try again.

yeah it's too late for that. i thought it would only be this one outpost/town that would be hostile, so i kept going, and quicksaved at the inn. turns out all 5 areas are hostile.

I would find a save that was previous unless you only saved once in the entire game. In which case I don't know what to tell you. You might have to find one hours back sorry to say.

Times we live in, games are buggy.

Yeah, I did that once too and then I zoned-out just to see if the rest of the city would agro me. But as it was, they didn't; and my reputation wasn't that bad yet. Although, if I went around killing more people, I'm sure that would eventually change. God knows that the Domonel (sp?) took every opportunity they could to attack me, after I ruined my reputation with them.

Also, as far as the inn goes; you can kill the ogre without anyone caring. Although, interestingly enough; if you kill people in the inn, he will agro you on the way out.

I don't like keeping a bunch of different saves, although they can come in handy. Personally though, in RPGs; I will typically keep a 'town-only' save and an 'out-adventuring' save. That way there should always be one that I can fall back on, that's not too far back. I still might occasionally lose some time to a major bug or a poor decision, that I come to regret; although that's pretty rare, and it's rarely that bad.

Did you get access to the rest of Twin Elms before you talked to the guard in the north? Maybe that's why they all turn hostile on you

Ahh, yeah, that could be it; in and of itself. Their 'living room' is open to guests, but they don't like people seeing all of the kinky stuff they keep in their bedrooms and bathrooms. Their bashfulness tends to lead them to violence. It's a kneejerk reaction, that they haven't quite grown out of yet.

Only the first district of Twin Helms is open to outsiders. The "inner" districts are closed.
Obviously, if you speak to the council you are able to enter, but without authorization, you basically try to force your way in. And obviously, locals doesn't take kindly when you kill guards and force your way inside their sacred places.
