Who else hasn't used potions?
So I'm level eight now and am just about done with everything before hitting up Twin Elms. One thing I noticed recently is that I haven't used any potions. Is this a common theme for later? Should I be stacking all of my resources for the fights under my keep?

I tried using a regenerative potion once, in a fight where I was basically getting 1-shot. Thought if I used it, at the start, I might stand a better chance. As it turns out though; I was killed before I even got it off. I didn't bother to try it again, after that; and I haven't used any since.

I have used some potions...but sparingly. I generally just use an endurance spell.

The potions was one thing in this game I found awkward, I was never really confident that they actually worked.

They work...especially later on. You can use one and it will fill up your entire endurance bar. But to do that you have to use up a turn for your character....which can mean death if the character is in danger. So I tend to avoid them most of the time and stick to spells.

I was surprised that, even with something like a regenerative potion, I was forced to use it while in combat. That's usually the kind of thing that I would use right before I enter it. Seems a lot less useful, since I can't.

That was the awkward part for me, being turn-based, I never got comfortable of when to use it. It always seemed too late. It doesn't mean I'm going to stop trying though

I haven't at all either. The most I do is make food so I can boost stats for convo choices.

I can't even remember if I have or not lol

I know I haven't crafted anything and haven't even needed too. That's the most useless part of the game for me.

I can see the benefit of making some of the potions (defense bufs or higher chance of crit ones and the like). But I sort of like the scrolls more. I really should try giving whoever I make the tank be have some stacks of offense based spells.

Lvl 9, Hard mode. Haven't used one yet. Though that's more because of the fact that they mostly all seem quite lacklustre in their effects.

Smart positioning + Eder with 93 base deflection + Bonuses like from Kana's +10 Deflect Chant, Per encounter abilities, priest Buffs etc. means my frontline barely takes any damage as it is. I've found 2 items that have 3 per rest AOE Endurance healing effects and I usually throw Grieving Mother's 'Pain Block' spell on anyone squishy like backliners if they do start to take damage anyway.

That's indeed one side effect of this whole HP/Endurance system - I barely have to 'heal' unlike the Baldur's Gate days where I would possibly frequently use some healing pots mid/post battle to clear injury..

My chars are almost level 9 on Path of The Damned and I've only occasionally "needed" to use them for a difficult fight.

However, I'm starting to use them a bit more often, if only because they do make the game a bit easier and having only 2 camping supplies is a pain, so I do want to prolong each outing which means using less spells per battle, and relying more on renewable attacks and not taking damage.

I used a few healing potions during the last levels of Od Nua.

Didn't help against the last boss.

At level 12 basically every fight turns into 5 second gibfests. No time to buff.

POTD difficulty Act 3, I don't use them due to the turn they consume. My tanks may use them during a boss battle but they take 1-9 damage and can afford to lose their turns.

Potions are very useful on harder difficulties and also later in the game imo.
