priests best stat is intellegence, then i personally prefer concentration so reslve and might as it effects how much you heal in adition to how much damage you can dish out
Are you thinking of a back-line priest, throwing buffs and debuffs while healing at the same time? Maybe a battle-priest type? Standing in the mid-line protecting your casters while throwing the occasional buff/debuff/heal when needed?
Eitherway, you want Int > Might > Resolve > Dex.
Wear light armor to minimize recovery time if you're planning to go full-caster, otherwise use medium/heavy + shield if you want to serve as an off-tank.
I highly discourage short-ranged combat due to the priest's low accuracy, IF you really want to fight in melee, use an extended range weapon like the quarterstaff / pike.
Melee range combat is not really a problem as long as you have a tank to hold the attention. If you get engaged, you can lay down seals to knock over your foe.
I think scale armor is a pretty good balance between speed and protection at the moment (lvl 9).
Interdiction + Painful Interdiction is one of my favorite spells. Huge AoE and makes my rogue able to sneak attack all the way to the bank.
