also happens to me the same thing ..... not playable
crash every load exchange zone
most particularly it crashes when i try to enter golden valley, i gonna try reaching the city below :-/
Yes, this is a very common issue. It happens most frequently with 32-bit systems, but there are plenty of reports of people with 64-bit systems experiencing it as well. Here's to hoping it will get fixed in an upcoming patch.
i hope as well

such a vicious crash....
Happens to me a lot. I've had it happen in numerous places. If I reload that game and try again it works but it's really freaking annoying, and winds up making me do a quicksave before every scene change as a "just in case" so I don't lose any progress. I'm on 64 bit Win 7.

If you havn't already done so try Verifying the integrity of the game cache - in the steam client, right click on the game in your library, select properties from the dropdown list then in the local files tab select Verify ingegrity of game cache.

I'm also on Windows 7 64 bit - havn't experienced a single game crash so far *touches wood*
/archi right for example, i cannot finish the quest where i have to find the elf's daughter because when i try to enter Dyrford ruins ---> back to desktop
but that is strange because according to Obsidian/Paradox the game shouldn't crash on 64 because it was made for 64....and most of the crash happen on 32

/kyia i did it like 3-4 times, it seems that the game is less crashy after but i still cannot go in gilded vale...
Two things you could try:

1. Opt in to the beta patches.

From the notes for 1.04: Optimized how scene transitions are handled for better memory usage on 32-bit machines. This may allow players to transition to new areas without running out of memory.

2. Linux.

It appears that the crashes are memory-related. Linux does not have the same limitations on memory usage that XP does. Installing a dual boot of a noob-friendly distribution like Mint or Ubuntu takes about 15 minutes. (It's the preparation that can take some time. Clearing out a small corner of the hard drive. Backup of important data. Downloading and burning the iso image if using a dvd for the installation.)

yeah the beta patch why not....
but i cannot play anymore, the game crash when i enter catacombs which means i cannot continue the story

i was so motivated playing this game but now it is melting...
hey by the way, i just found a post on reddit about the beta patch
you need a password: BETAPASSWORD so you can suscribe to the beta updates, otherwise it is not possible
ill give a try and tell
I don't crash during loading but sometimes the game stops responding for several seconds even minutes. Not sure why. Seems to happen after I've been playing a while.

64-bit Windows 8.1
I can enter the catacombs in copperlane !!
damn ! the beta patch seems to work, i'll try going back to gilded vale
I can't play cause the Damm Crash. I always happens every loading.

If you're running on a 32-bit OS and/or have the minimum memory requirements (ALA 4gigs RAM), you want to modify your boot.ini to get more RAM for other programs and take RAM away from your OS. That may stop the crashing if you meet any of the requirements I just mentioned.
