Long version; you wouldn't be getting much by levelling up beyond 12 - no higher levels of spells/powers/chants/etc exist yet, no guidelines for how many new spells/powers/etc to get each level - basically there's zero framework for raising the level cap without making levelling up too dull (as in one new spell/power every level, a new talent every two or three and increases to vitality and accuracy).
Besides; if you're hitting level 12, you should be strong enough to curb-stomp just about anything save for the Master Below and presumably some of the end-of-story bad guys. What's the point of getting higher than 12 anyway? By the time you get to 13 or 14 you'll be past almost all of the skill-related dialogue checks, you'll have cleared most of the dungeons... really all you'd have left is finishing the story.
If you want a higher level cap, you'll probably just have to wait til the expansion just like the rest of us.
The reason I was hoping for an increased cap is because I am currently capped very early on my 2nd playthrough and have stopped playing because the linear nature of the game means that I don't really feel like continuing without the character progression because I have already seen all the interesting story content before.
