There are events that can give you a bit money for selling/ransoming them.
Some dialogue for a few mention if you let them go they'd pay you back. But I've never done it personally and its probably just flavor text.
To note, 2 of these guys escaped like nothing after I had gotten around 40 in security. So doesn't look like the security matters at all for those dungeon escapes.
The whole fortress is pretty useless. I really looked forward to it, but all it gives me is problems and penalties. That's 20k gold best spent elsewhere.
The only benefit you get from having it is a free resting place that gives buffs, but even then you have to go through 3 loading screens to reach it and then another 3 loading screens to get back.
I think it's more appreciated among those of us who actually do some RP. There's nothing like returning home after a long spelunking session in those dank, spider-infested caverns, and taking off your boots and armor, flopping on the bed for some well-deserved sleep....
Oh, there's that. But I'd love it more if there were at least some people to go around. It's frustratingly empty, and the only people I ever see are "bad visitors" I didn't invite and the henchmen I pay to stick with me.
Why rebuild a forum if no debates ever take place there? Why have a training yard if nobody's using it?
Regrettably, that unfortunate circumstance stretches my immersion quite a good bit...
Agreed on those points. I don't know, in the future, maybe? This game has potential for expansion, as it's a fresh world entirely.
We can hope. I dearly hope my Watcher survives the misfortunes that have befallen him. I've become quite attached to my character and hope to see him participate in the expansion.
Then the game has done its job well :)
Damn system, cheating me out of another spellbook for Aloth. I am trying to have a complete grimoire collection here, darn it.
Lemme see if I can go gut the bastard in jail
It's called having too darn much money killing everything that move and somehow got into your bad side. :v People do it all the time you know, buying things they never actually use
I bloody hate it when ppl don't drop what they use :v
Totally agree. I was hoping for some interactions akin to the Dragon Age: Awakening Expansion or the Baldur's Gate 2 Fighter's keep which the Awakening Keep was inspired from. In fact I was expecting it to be even more interactive and fleshed out given we are further along technologically and that they actually have previous incarnation from which to base it off of and improve. I had especially high hopes for the dungeon which I built early on in order to experience from a mechanical and narrative stand point... I was rewarded with Nyrid escaping literally 30 seconds after having imprisoned him, with a maxed out keep (it is said on the wiki that escape is possible with a low security rating...). I held off on hiring "hirelings" because I thought they were a waste of money (I resolve threats manually).
But now you say that even with security lvl 40 you still had jail breaks?!! Either this mechanic is broken or just poorly designed and uninspired... I feel robbed on that level. I love the game and understand ( and praise!) the work that went into creating a world from scratch both mechanically and from a narrative standpoint, but in terms of the keep itself... well I truly hope the expansion will...well expand and deepen the keep in every way to make it feel worthwhile and inspired. At least fill it up with a staff and visitors based on upgrades ( like you mentioned). That was the first disappointment that struck me and compromised my immersion... Anyways seems like a lot of complaining but it is minor in the grand scheme of things. I truly feel like this is a quality game made by passionate people and filled with depth (do yourselves a favor and read anything you can!).
