You only get EXP from quest or bestiary update. Kith (human and the like) aren't in the bestiary, they are supposed to be not-beast.
People often confuse the XP gain from completing parts of their bestiary when killing creatures with pure XP from combat.
It's a way of encouraging people to find non-violent solutions to things - otherwise sneaking into Raedric's keep would always be the worst option, XP-wise.
Oh well yea. They won't change that part lol.
Infact the only other one that I can think of that sort of encouraged this was Lionheart: Legacy of the crusader, where you were awarded portions of the enemy's XP as you snuck past them.
Coupled with the limited HP system this game uses that makes constant confrontations an attrition effect on your overall adventuring and every point of damage you sustain an actual issue, and I can appreciate the fact that I can avoid a lot of things if need be without penalty and without missing much.
The reward for Humanoid Enemies is their loot and pack-ratting your stash up with things to sell.
Deus Ex: HR also reward EXP for non-lethal take down or sneak past without being seen altogether.
I enjoy a solid challenge, I just don't care for limited ways to level up new characters in iron man mode.
You get 0 xp for killing enemies, the xp you get the first several kills of an enemy type is from filling out your beastiary, not the kills themselves. You could probably mod the game to reset your beastiary to get more xp from them if you wanted to get more then intended xp, the reason for this mechanic was to decentivize farming enemies for anything other then crafting mats.
Not at all the same thing if that was in response to me.
Send companion off for work and earn EXP from stronghold.
Basically, you rest more and send below half health people far away
or
become Zhuge Liang in combat tactics :v
You usually can get away with a lot of fights unscared with 5 fine arbelest
