So... Adra Dragon.
How do you even fight that thing? It is just a 5 seconds party wipe regardless of what i do.

Od Nua? I hear that thing is pretty nasty.
Harukage Mar 31, 2015 @ 3:46pm
Yeah. It is a final boss of The Endless Paths of Od Nua. The best i can do is like take away a single endurance gem on that thing before i die.

I personally have not been down there yet, but I hope someone will be able to help you out.

Finaly i killed that nightmare.
Just put the thickest armor on Eder and gave him an year's worth of endurance potions and sent him to tank. Then used summons to take initial chunk of health from dragon, surrounded it with my party equiped with ranged weaponry, debuffed it with my Cipher main char and barraged it with projectiles and damaging spells.
That fight is so unforgiving... And takes a thorough preparation. It is litteraly the most difficult battle in the game, if you are not using cheese.

I had to cheese my way through that encounter at level 10. I had two characters (Cipher and Chanter) each equipped with Boots of Speed and arbalests. Then I had one of them shoot at the dragon and kite it away, then the other would shoot it and kite it back. Rinse and repeat. Eventually, I would get careless and the dragon got too close and one hit killed one of them, and I had to reload. But after about three hours I finally killed the darned lizard!

^ Cheese is for sore loosers. Fight it like a true man.

I convinced it to let me free it, killed the mobs around the back, turn it away while the other five just blitzed it without having to worry about AoE or adds [:

That's the easiest way to do it, though :D

I face tanked him at level 12, with my rogue, fighter and paladin, used lightning AoE from the druid to open and then his other AoE's but i made sue the lightning was constant for the stun effect, debuffed with the wizard and healed and revive with the priest, it worked a treat

I only sent in my tank way ahead of the party, engaged, triggered his breath on tank, then the rest of the party came in, threw those level 5 storm scrolls on the adds which insta gibbed them, then finished the dragon the normal way without ever triggering the priest mobs on the right. The first part of dealing with the initial breath and the adds is the hardest, after that it becomes manageable with basic tank and healing. Just don't ever get close to his tail or you will eat a 350 AoE tail pierce.

Honestly it's a lot of luck. Some times spells/psi abilities work, sometimes they don't... luck... don't try it on ironmode.

I can now consistently beat it with virtually no effort after I figured out what the devs wanted it to be like. OK step 1 is to have your tank eat the Dragon food for 50 max end. Get a scroll of accuracy as well. The best tank is actually Paladin specced into -duration of charms.

Now take your tank out by himself, leave your group clustered near the stairs. The tank goes out, dialog starts and then the dragon opens with a breath. After the breath have your tank drink a Major Endurance potion, followed up by getting in melee range. Once the dragon has farted, drink the +50 max endurance , then the +20 deflection/reflex potion. Leave your tank standing still the rest of the fight tanking the boss.

Now for your party, open up with a scroll of accuracy, and a priest radiance if you got it. While the scroll is happening use EVERY SUMMON YOU HAVE, and split them evenly between the Adragons and the Xauntrips on the left and right sides of the dragon. Your debuff casters need to drink Eldrich aim potions during this

Now your goal comes in two parts: PART 1 to stick your dps on the ADRAGON adds, they have to die fast; PART 2 is debuffuing WILL and REFLEX on the dragon. Weakness and Hobble are the best debuffers, but you must get those two saves down (ciphers, wizards, and Barb fear can do this). The instant you land a WILL debuff: paralyze, petrify, confuse, or dominate. It will almost always land and if you are lucky it will crit. the instant you land a REFLEX debuff, wizard oil and try to buy more time to land a WILL save. If you have a cipher/wizard drain DR from the boss as well

Keep the dragon perma CC'd in this fashion, kill the Adragons (probably died while you were debuffing the boss) ignore the priests and just tunnel the boss, making sure to keep WILL debuffs rolling. Winning

Fight is broken down into really 3 parts: Making sure the tank survives the opener. Using summons to eat the charms/petrifies of the Adragon and to occupy the xauntrips. Debuffing the boss so you can CC it. DO NOT USE ANY SPELL THAT TARGETS FORTITUDE

Made a deal just to get AdraDrag out of my face and let me setup, attacked the Adds and used a 20sec chant to summon endless ogres , had the mindf*cker Pain Llink the ogres one by one, targetd AdraDrag and had GM shoot Adds for while Edder just tanked them to pin. Done.

it seems to be completely random if the first attack only hits the tank you engage the dragon with or the whole group. also the petrify spell of the wizard misses 4/5 times -.-

edit

so i tried it a few more times and i think it is not possible for whatever reason to engage the dragon without all of your chars dying within the first two dragon's breath attacks. WITHOUT the dialogue option that requires 18 resolve. because if choosing that option you can position your party around the dragon and then decide when you attack.
the petriyfying doesn't work for me. aloth has 61 precision. the dragons defense against gaze of the adragan is 121. so it is nearly impossible to hit the dragon. i played the whole game on normal difficulty and had no problems at all. all my chars are lvl 12 and are well equipped. i reduced the diffculty to the lowest and still nothing changes

1.) Get all the gear equipped you want to use. Namely spells that require reflex saves.
2.) Kill the adragans first. You'll go into combat, but combat WON'T end until the dragon is killed. The dragon won't agro you yet.
3.) Place your party members surrounding the Adra Dragon as if they were the points of a stop sign.
4.) Dump all your summon creatures and have them attack the Xaurips. This way the Xaurips won't bother you, and really the summoned creatures can't fight the dragon effectively anyway.
5.) As soon as the Xaurips agro, so will the dragon. Use Scalebreaker on it and unload a hellstorm of spells and abilities on its ass. Knockdowns and Paralyze effects are a bonus.
6.) Loot the corpse.
