buried secrets quest bugged?

So i entered the temple in the gilded vale without actually activating the quest by talking to the child but found wirtan downstairs. I fought my way down through the levels and reached the spirit to gather the bones. I clearly remeber the room with the spirit who is suppose to give the bones but I actually dont recall getting them tbh. I only know its suppose to give them from a walkthrough vid. I went back upstairs to confront wirtan but he is nowhere to be found and the buried secrets quest is not in my journal. I attempted to talk to the child but he/she just says, "i use to play on the temple stones", or something to that affect. Is there any way to get this activated or perhaps wirtan is somewhere else in gilded vale? Thanks

So i went back a few saves and the buried secrets quest is active at the start of the temple but somewhere along the way it disappears in the quest journal. At a few saves into the first level its gone. When i get down to the room with the spirit bones the conversation says, the man is already dead and the option to get the bones never appears no matter which dialog i choose. I assume this is referencing Wirtan but i have no idea why he is dead or if his death was triggered by something i did in the temple. Does this sound right? The completed quest is not showing up, so i really have no clue.

The child never activated the quest. I'm not exactly sure what happened here...you should go into the room from the switch on the wall...there should be bodies laying all around..and like you said...get an option to collect them. Walk back up..and confront him - at that's that.

Yeah it makes no sense. No matter what i do the option to gather the bones is never an option and wirtan is never at the temple entrance when i go back after clearing the levels.. Do i need to have eder with me to give the option? I created a bunch of adventurers to go in before i even recruited eder. In some playthroughs i've seen he comments on a few of the interactions, like at the end when you snuff the candles. When i do it without him nothing happens. Maybe he is critical to the quest. Kind of annoying but not a game changer really, at least i dont think it is.

He shouldn't be - but I don't know..I haven't experienced most of the bugs that other's have stumbled upon. So, no way I can really trouble shoot them without intentionally starting over and looking for them. Which of course I"m not gunna do...:(. Perhaps it was something to do with your initial conversation with wirtan.

Yeah i dont blame you - i dont really want to fight my way through those levels again to find out either.
