Soul Whip—where it? What do?

First off, I do speak English, which enables me to enjoy shows like "Little Britain," which I blame for the stupid post title. Anyway...

So "Soul Whip" is a "modal ability." Okay. But I don't see it—do I gain it at a particular level?

And yeah, so, I know what Soul whip does. But the title... oh, never mind that.

You start with it and it automatically activates when close enough to an enemy where your attacks would generate Focus. You don't actually have to turn it on manually; just look for when your weapon gets a bright purple haze around it, like what you see when souls are being manipulated elsewhere in the game.

Soul whips is a passive ability. The cipher gain soul points every time they hit. You don't have to turn it on. Just attack.

It passively works with bow attacks too. Proximity isn't an issue.

I think you still have to be within a certain distance of the enemy hit to generate Focus, but I may be mis-remembering.

Nope, I play a ranged Cipher and Soul Whip works at max range no problem.
