So who did you side with? Lord of a Barren land spoilers.
I sided with Raedric, as tyranical as he is, he's at least trying to find a cure, where Kolsc is just a leech. I think both are terrible for very different reasons, but in the end the curse might be lifted. Harsh, but that is the kind of World their live in.

...Methods matter. More than the eventual goals. Raedric is an insane tyrant who butchers, tortures and mutilates the people he is charged to protect.

There is absolutely no reason to feel any sympathy for Raedric, let alone side with him.
Kain Mar 27, 2015 @ 1:58pm
Oh I feel no sympathy, but I don't think replacing a tyrant for an useless man would be the best option. As bad as he is he's the thin thread that holds his region together putting a weaker man on his place would only do worse for the people even if it's morally the easier road to take.

How could Kolsc do any worse than Raedric? Raedric had already murdered half the town and was well on his way to murdering the other half. You can't "hold a region together" by slaughtering its inhabitants, no matter what the Total War games may have taught you.

Why not kill them both?
Kain Mar 27, 2015 @ 2:18pm
Because his region will perish without a cure regardless. Also, Raven, a land without a ruler is a place of chaos, people would just end up being killed by bandits or fights amongst themselves.

Well they both seemed like chumps and I didn't want either of them to rule. I killed them both! Maybe someone will step up that isn't a psycho or from that family.

EDIT: Oh and btw, the AI in this game is horrible. I killed Raedric and then waltz out the front gate and no one even attacked me. They hated him too! rofl

Well, that's a solution too :D

I'm thinking on siding with Raedric only because I'm playing in hard difficulty, and that fight is just plain impossible with my current party (3 level 3s and a level 2 against like 11 mobs including a couple of mages that together one-shot whoever is talking to Raedric).
Dexter Mar 27, 2015 @ 6:18pm
I think the tree full of dead people in the middle of town kind of solved who to side with for me.
Mythos Mar 27, 2015 @ 6:29pm
Raedric was a lunatic. Plain and simple. He was just slaughtering his town, quite possibly for no reason. There wasn't even any indication that his massacre of random people related to souls or Hollowborn was going to fix anything. Kolsc seemed like an arrogant prick, but at least he hadn't slaughtered half of a town.
Laiders72 Mar 27, 2015 @ 6:29pm
I was with Kolsc but did have to drop the difficulty to normal. BTW raven the AI won't attack you after killing Raedric because, well, you just killed their lord and his finest men and he was a bastard anyway so why risk death? Plus the new lord probably says 'No murdering my mercs!'.

I initially agreed to kill Kolsc just to get away from being killed all the time. Once I figured out how to improve my gear with enchantments and had a full party all at level 5, I spoke with Kolsc, didn't kill him and then went and killed Raedric. Although I did take all of my part and put them in the bedroom with the wife and sent one person out to talk and get knocked out. Then I just drew one or two a time and finally killed everybody. After that I got the Kolsc scene and I was good.

lol, that was smart, reminds me of the shenanigans I would have to go to beat some bosses of Divinity.

Because this thread has been going for a little while, and some people might find it interesting to know, here's what happens if you side with Kolsc. This is revealed after you beat the game so SPOILERS. BIG SPOILERS. SERIOUSLY. (only relevant to the quest/fate of region itself, I'm not spoiling any other quests or story)

Raedric's faith and belief turned out to be so strong, he returns as a dreadknight. Kills everyone that stands in his way, and firmly reclaims control over his land in his now undead shell. Have fun with that.
