Stronghold stuff
Hi guys, I have got into the flow of upgrading my stronghold and was wondering how frequently there are events, visitors and adventure opportunities happening? Tax collection also feels very random with multiple turns and lots of game time passing between the turns. I have only had 1 visitor message (about a guy who was forced to flee because my Security wasn't high enough) and gained tax revenue once so far.

So my question is what's the approximate rate you can expect new things to happen when your stronghold is still getting established (I have upgraded Main Keep, Dungeon, both Barbicans and Brighthollow)?

I'm curious on this too. Specially the adventures. I haven't seen any (Not sure how they pop up either).

Got a criminal for a visitor, which ended up being super silly. He was going to leave in 5 days. So to escort him, it will take 6 days, and I still get the prestige/security penalty during that time.

Kiiiiiiinda dumb.

Hey there, thanks for reply. I've been playing more since posting this and apparently the only "sure" way to increase the odds of getting more adventures and visitors is to keep pumping money to the stronghold and purchase new upgrades so you can get Prestige and Security upwards. Both of mine just hit around 10 and when I asked the Sentinel "how we are doing", she said that "my hard work is being noticed" or something and that there should be more visitors and such soon. Also got my first adventure.

So I guess the best plan for both of us is to just keep on playing and the stuff will eventually start to get more frequent :).

A lot of it is based on completing quests, I think that's how tax collection and adventures happen. I notice that if I just travel around or rest to pass time nothing happens but after I complete a quest suddenly I get a ton of updates. I don't like this system at all to be honest, I liked how it was in NWN2 and BG2 where it was dependent just on time going by.

any1 notice when u defend ur keep, all that loot just waitin 2 b picked up just disapears after u finish and u cant pick it up during? r they just trollin us with that or do u get it automatically? cause i dont feel rewarded in any way after the defence and have to settle for assuming my actions mean i will loose less coin on the next income day :/

It's largely based on your prestige.
More prestige = more visitors.

so what do i get from the defence? does that raise my prestige?

Various things. Helps you collect taxes without losing those to bandits, stops your visitors from being attacked, makes the stronghold less vulnerable to assaults, etc.

For instance, if you have high prestige but low defense... there'll be a lot of visitors who attempt to reach your stronghold but end up getting attacked by bandits etc.

Also you can lose prisoners with low Security. I learnt that the hard way.

From what I've seen, the penalty is negated as soon as you start escorting them.
...still kind of silly that you can't just drive criminals away (or imprison them).

Only adding new buildings increases prestige, I'm pretty sure. Don't know what would happen if you didn't do a defence. Maybe some negative impact over a period of time? I had a visitor who was a jerk, and he lowered my prestige and security while he was there, so I had somebody escort him off the grounds, but it still took him 3 days to leave.

Ive been passing time to see Events. It seems taxes and quests happen when you complete quests and advance turns. Random Events happen based on time base so you can rest to see them. These Randoms can be good and bad.

Another thing that I've noticed about prestige: it seems to affect the quality of goods that the stronghold vendor sells.
