Favorite Obsidian and Black Isle rpgs?
What are your favorite rpgs by Obsidian and/or Black Isle? List Top 3 for each one maybe?

For me I would have to say these are my favorites:

- Black Isle: Planscape Torment, Baldurs Gate II and Fallout 2

- Obsidian: Mask Of The Betrayer, KOTOR 2 and Fallout New Vegas

With Icewind Dale II and Alpha Protocol as honerable mentions from the two.

Post your favorites, stoked to play PIllars Of Eternity, alot of great minds worked on this! :stout:

There's never been a better game, ever, in my opinion, than Planescape : Torment.

I only wish the game had screamed at me "PLAY A MAGE! PLAY A FREAKIN' MAGE!" when it booted up. I actually thought it was decent, but not that remarkable, the first time I played through - because I did so as a warrior.

The additional options - story, history, in conversation, etc. - you gain from boosting WIS, INT, and CHA made the 2nd playthrough incomparable to the first, it was that much improved.

The skill/stat check via conversation aspect which played heavily into that really made it work well.

And man, the story. On that 2nd play, so much of it really hit hard. On the first run, I just killed the dude. On the second, I had them merged. I had legit tears after the 2nd, when everyone was saying their goodbyes.

I own four separate copies of Baldur's Gate 2. Nuff said.

No doubt, great post! Loved Planscape Torment! Wonderuflly written, like alot of Black Isle/Obsidian games. I would say Planscape Torment and Mask Of Betrayer arguably two of the best written games ever.

I will just ditto Kozzy's list. Though I tend to like IWD:HoW a bit more than IWD2.

That's a home run list if I ever seen one.

I think that if you added BG2, that would be my dessert island complete with a computer, list.

Black Isle didn't develop BG II that was Bioware, Interplay had BGII published by Black Isle though.

New Vegas. #1 with a bullet.

Wouldn't place IWD over Fallout 1 or 2 anytime. IWD was a great game but lacked story depth IMO. Still two great games for all us D&D nerds though.

For my own tastes BG1/2 and PS:T are equally at the top. PS:T is the best for storytelling and roleplay while BG1-2 have better combat.

Fallout 2, PsT (storywise first but I prefer tb..)
But as much as I hate to admit it (well, not really....), New Vegas takes the cake. I HATE fps. Despite this would-be fatal flaw, the opus that is the battle for the fully fleshed out Mojave (and additional areas, the dlcs are a must) is just so compelling. So much to do, great stuff to look at, and the writing is up there with all the rest. Kotor 2, especially with TSLRCM.
BG games are not BI, they are Bioware games. Fallout 1 was also not Black Isle. That was interplay directly, before Tim Cain, Leonard Boyarsky, and Jason Anderson took off to start Troika. You guys are getting your devs confused.
