Playing through NWN2: Mask of the Betrayer to get hype. It's working.
Obsidian went hard on MoTB all those years ago. Neverwinter Nights 2 had a middling original campaign, but MoTB was sick. I know everybody is talking about BG this, BG2 that.. but honestly, I was never that huge of a fan. NWN was a different story. That was my favorite series of crpgs. Glad to know once again Chris A. is manning the helm and he's going to bring me back to the glory days.

Anybody else playing through Mask of the Betrayer, BG1 or BG2 in preparation?

I wish I could, but they aren't Mac compatible -.-. Otherwise I'd be playing as well.

It's a damn fine reason to Bootcamp. Worth the time probably.

I definitely would use boot camp, but sadly its not my Mac. Only using it until I move, and order my PC parts and build it.

NWN was my first true RPG experience. God I loved it so much. Unfortunately all the other entries were just not memorable for me. In fact I don't remember if I played MOTB O.o I think I did, but didn't really feel it and left it half way.

My second biggest experience was KoToR. After that only the Mass Effect series came close, but absolutely nothing after that gave me half the pleasure of those games.

In characters, dialogues and story department MotB and Planescape Torment eat both BG1 and BG2 for breakfast.

Sigh...why can't they just make a Neverwinter nights 3 or equivalent with its own lore and rule set. If that ever happened it would definitely be on of my top 10 happiest moments in gaming.

NWN + Helm. I see what you did there.

Masks is probably the most EPIC rpg expansion ever in terms of sheer scope.
I haven't heard many people say it isn't the best expansion or even stand alone story in rpg videogame history.

Main issue is getting through the main game which isn't necessarily bad but more average.

I agree, the main game was ok, but it mostly was great at the time because it was another NwN, also I loved the rebuilding of the keep, and a certain battle that happens. Other than that, it was pretty meh now that I look back at it. MOTB definitely was a major upgrade in every single way imo, and Storms Of Zehir while the actual story was pretty generic, the map exploration and create your own party aspect, and the dialogue system definitely made it amazing.
NWN series is dope.... passed the platinum last year, gonna pass NWN2 this year, well, maybe if pillars doesn't take up too much of my time... ROFLOL

Im going to be swamped with POE and the Age of Wonders 3 expansion comin next month, but evveeentually once I get my PC, I will go back through the entirety of Nwn1 and 2, and look for some Persistent worlds to join as well.
