Durance endings
So I've completed the game twice. Both times Durance got pretty sad endings. In my first playthrough I convinced him to abandon Magran. He lived out the rest of his days a destitute hermit.

In my second playthrough he continued worship Magran. Magran never spoke to him again. He decided to kill himself by setting himself on fire..

So my question is; Is there any way to get a good Durance ending? The best companion in the game deserves a better ending!

Nope. No good ending for the broken priest. He either burns himself alive or becomes a lonely, bitter old man.

That sucks. I guess since I've seen all the endings for him. I'll convince him to abandon Magran from now on. The first one isn't as bad.

Maybe. He doesn't kill himself, but he spends the rest of his life miserable. On the other hand, while he does end his life his soul is then free from the torment of that life and is able to rejoin the Wheel, possibly ending up happier in the future.

Burning to death is one of the worst ways you could go. He could also end up as one of those Shade/Phantom things. I read that those are spawned from people that suffered horrible deaths. Like the Eothas priests in the temple.

He'll end up back in the cycle either way.

It certainly is possible that his soul would fail to separate from the body and he would indeed become a phantom, although that, as I understand it, tends to be more of a product of the mentally ill. A violent end such as suicide could certaily trigger it.
