But just out of curiosity, why is the Sky Dragon so hard to fight? Shouldn't it be achievable for a player on Normal and Lvl 12? I am just trying to understand what the developers where thinking when creating such a fight.
The sky dragon has certain resistances and immunities, which you can inspect. It's immune to Shock and Corrode and has DR 16 against Crush and Burn damage, so if those are your go-to damage types, that might be the problem. Gotta change gears for this fight.
Most important against adult dragons is to protect your party members against Frightened/Terrified affliction before launching any of your essential attacks. Next you should focus on disabling the dragon rather than only trying to do damage. Cause afflictions yourself. With spells and abilities. You are well-advised to prepare with food, perhaps drugs, sleep at an inn that gives worthwhile resting bonuses, rest before the battle and select worthwhile Survival skill bonuses. During combat, gulp beneficial potions. Offense will be the better defense. Don't just try to survive a damage vs healing race. Cause the dragon problems quickly. Depending on your party members, melee attackers may want to drop their shields and switch to one single-handed weapon only as to gain an extra stacking +12 Accuracy bonus - but since you refer to Normal difficulty, only portions of all that are needed.
Don't remember off hand, but it's vulnerable to paralyze, so make sure you can cast paralysis. Im guessing like everything its vulnerable to RAW damage, so have your mage chucking poison clouds, raw damage spells to bypass it's defenses. Spread your people out so any breath attack won't hit everyone, his AOE will still hit, but you'll eliminate one of the dragons main attacks by not having everyone grouped up for a breath attack.
I THINK its vulnerable to slash, pierce and freeze spells, so don't use fire, electrical, corrode or crushing attacks.
Now go try it see what happens.
