If you want to bash tons of mobs with one hand, go Diablo.
Basically, Diablo is all about action, while PoE is about story. A lot of the game involves combat, but it's more a tactical combat, and you'll still have a lot of conversations.
I enjoy a lot fallout, althrought I love fasts fps like cod and stuff, I also all the stupidity involve in converstation, do you think I get the same feeling?
To make it simple, imagine a book were you have a choice of option/answers, and you can play all the fighting scenes. Like you read the Lords of the Ring, but play the Minas Tirith battle, then get back to read what comes afterward.
Check some let's play on youtube.
It's not all talk no action stuff like a puzzle game. But it's almost the opposite of CoD.
Best Regards
However PoE *is* a great game, a top drawer example of the isometric party based RPG genre, which is a classic tried and tested video game format. Should you decide that you wanted to try out this genre to see if you liked it, and that's probably a sensible thing to do since having more types of game you enjoy just means more good options to play down the line, then PoE would be an excellent choice as would Divinity Original Sin. DOS doesn't take itself as seriously as PoE so if you like zany stuff you might like DOS better.
This game is garbage, man. Diablo 3 is the easy choice.
Hope this helps in the administration of your money.
With that out of the way, Pillars is nothing like Diablo. Story heavy, lots of reading, lots of roleplaying opportunities. Pillars is not primarily an action game like the Diablo series.
Diablo 3 is a pure electronic heroin. I started playing the game when it released 2012, played softcore & hardcore, before RoS and after, spent a lot of time & money ( on the RMAH ), got 3 accounts... Fortunately at last my hatred for Diablo 3 became above my addiction. Hope I said Diablo 3 the last goodbye. This game has no story, no soul, no sense, no end. It's job for robots. It's "a squirrel in a wheel" stuff. My advise - never start it.
PoE is a good old RPG, not a great masterpiece but really really nice in every component. A perfectly restored world of Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale.
I enjoy a bit of diablo 3 every now and then, but its games like Wasteland 2 \ NWN \ Dragon Age 1 that cause my gamerections. Still fishing for a 75% off on PoE, though, such cheapskate as I am, but I'm getting a feeling it's gonna be good.
I say that well aware that Diablo 2 has a similar bot problem but that game is just far superior in nearly every respect. 8 player max, actual PvP, trading, vastly superior itemization. That's why I recommended it over D3.
