Level 12 party; I play a Wizard, bringing along Eder, Pallegina, Durance, the Grieving Mother, and either Aloth or Kana.
Virtually every strategy I've read calls for one of a few tactics:
Killing the adds first without aggroing the dragon - doesn't seem possible; anytime you get close while in combat - even out of the dragon's LOS - the dragon attacks.
Petrify - I've probably cast 150-200 petrify spells without a single one landing.
I've got plenty of potions and resurrection scrolls, which help a little.
I betrayed the dragon and got the dragon-breaker ability, which likewise helps but doesn't last very long.
Someone earlier mentioned this being like an MMORPG boss. I can see the analogy, and my take is this is a DPS fight, but with the dragon's AoE attacks it's pretty much impossible to even start DPSing without losing a couple characters. And with a couple dead and the others healing or trying to resurrect the dead ones, you're not DPSing.
I'm really curious for anyone who has beaten this fight on version 2.03 of the game to comment. Most strategies out there are from earlier versions and I can't help but feel they adjusted the dragon encounter significantly.
As things stand it seems this is either a fight you win through sheer dumb luck, or something easy for certain party builds and nearly impossible for others.
Endaar
It's helpful to SEE other people's strategies rather than just reading about it without seeing how the game of numbers that is involved plays itself out.
idk why they did this, the game is not made for all these monster immunities.
they balance their game to death, just chill devs and tweak your new combat system for the next game when you can design everything around it properly.
Approch it close to the broken steps. the Make friends, tell it you're gonna find a way for it to escape.
Go back up broken stairs.
Cast AOE spell from top of broken stairs(might need druid to reach) to where you know the dragon is.
Everything down there attacks, kill everything with ranged weapons and spells, Adra Dragon included, will take 5+ minutes
Basically buff your party, separate him from his minions and hope he gets paralyzed.
Maybe my build was bad, I don't know...but I beat both the undead king and Thaos on the first try, so I don't think my party was horribly screwed up.
You gotta admit, anything that kills Eder in one shot is pretty unfair and OP. He's invincible to everything else. Thaos? Meh. Sky Dragon? Funny. 6 Shades? Try harder. Howabout a room full of spores? Not even close. Adra Dragon? ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ son, you just killed Eder in one hit, nice.
Imo that White March dragon was insane.
Druid relentless storm + Cipher amplified wave was enough for the mobs. Paralyze scrolls were used.
My ranger and fighter both had enough acc to naturally hit the dragon. My rouge had enouch acc to naturally crit the dragon most of the time, and for no small damage either.
Paladin was yet again the cornerstone of the battle. Liberating exhortation to remove debuffs, zealous focus buffs the whole party, lay on hand heals and finally Coordinated Attacks for the +10 acc on the whole party. Revive was not used since the dragon died really fast and the breath attack didnt kill anybody (my rouge has terribly low HP but high reflex so he avoided most of the damage)
What I wanna try is that whether I can do it without using scrolls of paralyze. I just tried it and succeeded, although barely and it took a long time. Dragon was near death, but his second breath attack killed the whole party. Luckily I had 2 second chances and they managed to barely eke out a win (fortunately the breath killed all of the remaining mobs)
If anybody is interested in the details: hard difficulty, version 2.03

Before she cornered me in to the area to the left of the cave I have noticed that she wasted 2 AOE's while my party was on the run. After that she never used it once, so I didn't use any resurrection scrolls neither (even once) during the fight against her (I did after, when the mob descended on me). Also, an unplanned side effect of fighting in close quarters and in narrow corner was that, she blocked her own followers from full access to my area leaving just narrow path which was easy to control. Well..., 'easy' is maybe slightly exaggerated (or downplayed) - my hero died while defending the path.
