Cast Returning Storm->shapeshift->profit. Just level him with +spell and Heart of the Storm talents.
Sagani is too narrow and to synergy with her you'll need to micro. But you'll get her companion too.
Kana just chant. Some little buffs. I've got not much battles where i can summon lvl 1, cause battles ends too fast.
I can say that Hiravias is a must have, if your PC is not a druid.
I been really impressed with Sagani as a character. She been consistent in her damage ouput. Her little fox comes in handy with that knock down ability.
I made Kana my off tank however I am underwelmed with the chanter class. By the time his ability to summon or cast any meaningful spell is ready the battle is already over. I think Obsidian needs to rethink their casting componet for this class to make it more useful. Their little buffs are cool. Pallegina would make a better off tank but I like Kana as a character more than Pallegina, however combat wise He is the weakest link of my group.
I wasn't impress with Hiravias. I guess I just don't understand how to use a druid effectively and I didn't like Hiravias as a character.
I guess it comes down to personal tastes in NPCs. Since I usually play as a Wizard in RPGs I would have preferred a high damage melee character instead of Aloth.
How do you use/build your chanter It seems it takes forever to get to a to a summon phase. It's mind boogling you can solo with this class. I would think you would be disabled and half dead by the time your ability to summon anything came around.
when the fight is over before the Kana comes into play, a 6th character is unnecessary anyway. But Kana is invaluable in protracted and difficult fights, where it's actually him who turns the table just at the moment when everything seems to go down the drain. He brings staying power into the team.
At lower lvs, fights are too quick, so a summoner might not be that efficient, but at higher levels (lv 9+), depending on the difficulty, fights are long enough to cast invocations if you stick to lv 1 chants. I remember on PoTD in cragholdt quest, my chanter could easily cast 2-3 invocations per encounter.
Really they all have their uses. One thing PoE does very well is class-balancing. Why don't you use all 3 and see which works for you the best?
Kana I loved for his summons in the lower level range but currently love him for his AoE Paralyze. OMFG is AoE Paralyze potent. Beyond that, his buffs and debuffs are decent and he makes for a solid off tank when my healer or wizard are getting beat on.
Hiravias has so much utility whether it be slowing an incoming pack of mobs so I can throw an oil slick on them, or aoe dd, or aoe dot, or debuff, or heal, or buff..... Seriously, this guy is a power house. Using him in conjunction with Aloth, forget about it. Wonder twin powers activated.
Since adding Hiravis to my group, I now need to camp or hit an inn because my characters are fatigued and not because they are out of spells/abilities. And this becomes even more so the case at lvl9 when lvl1 spells are per combat instead of per rest.
After only a few fights with Hiravias I created a druid and was seriously considering packing up my rogue and restarting from scratch. Love the druid!
I play on hard which is a bit easier than I expected. I am all about the journey and as such I do all the quests I come acrosss. Maybe thats why the game feels easier to me. I do do alot, hopefully all, of the side quests before moving on in the main story.
So just pick whatever character you like and have fun.
