It looks like BG1&2, it feels kinda like em, but just doesnt grip like they did. It feels to much like its trying to be them without doing enough like them and but not enough not like them, and what they do differently just feels more complicated than it needs to be with little real explanation on it.
The thing that annoys me the most is on a single map you can have fights and situations that are to hard for the time you kinda arrive at them... sure come back latter to do them you'd say, but thats after reloading a save a couple of times to realise the fights one for latter, which means im constantly saving the game just in case a fight I run into becomes a 'nope try again latter you shouldnt be here since we gave you no indication you're coming up to something way to hard for you now' one and i find i have to go back 10 minutes or more because I didnt save after the last couple of fights or im doing ok with fights then suddenly it throws a room with just one to many enemies of the type ive already been fighting fine and it becomes a wipe/reload/try again rince repeat find I cant do it and quit situation... oh and most fights mean nothing since they dont really give XP, making avoiding fights preferable to engaging.
Its a fine game, its just got some major core issues that really do make some of us sigh and hit esc.
If you didn't care, you wouldn't have come here and spent your time commenting, right?
You mentioned several other problems that I didn't mention, I'm only going to finish the game because I feel like money was wasted on something bad and I can't ask for a refund anymore.
Perhaps you mean Act 1, since only "4 hours" to finish Act 2 is hard to believe. It could mean you've chosen story time difficulty and have rushed through the main quest, not showing any interest in CRPG based exploration and role-playing.
Also, early in Act 2 you would learn about The White March, because the two expansions are integrated into the base game and modify it in various ways. As such, Act 2 is ideal for doing some bits in The White March, travelling forth and back between expansion and base game.
There are four acts. Act 3 (based around the village of Twin Elms) contains quite some optional opportunities. Act 4 is the shortest and not an epilogue, but endgame content beyond an explicit point of no return - meaning you cannot return to the rest of the virtual world (and not to the expansions either).
Uh? It can also be compared with games of a different genre, but that wouldn't make much sense, would it? Among CRPGs it is a true gem. Yet you don't seem to be interested in CRPGs. Particularly Baldur's Gate (Enhanced Edition) offers high potential for a playthrough every few years.
I chose difficulty 3, and compared to all the others I mentioned above that I've played and finished, it's well below average. That's why there's no way to compare it, it's a title below games that were made many years ago with worse graphics dated at the time. I can replay all of the ones I mentioned above without any problems, as I said before, I'm going to finish act 3 just so I don't continue to feel like money wasted. If I wasn't interested in CRPGS, I wouldn't play tabletop RPGs with my friends to this day, much less any of the ones I mentioned above for years before I had a Steam account... if I bought it it was because obviously I like the genre and I thought I would have an average experience at best, but I was wrong. But I understand your taste and your desire to defend something and also not wanting to hear people say bad things about your game because in your mind it's good.
Bg 1 and 2 ai was so bad that poe 1 didn't even include an ai when they made the game because everyone that played those games knew to not use ai
Poe 2 has a turn based mode
