Enter name character on Steam Deck?

Hello everyone!

I was just about to go on and start my adventure with the game on the steam deck.
However, at the last moment of the character creation; entering your characters name it all came to a halt.

No matte how much I tried to enter my characters name with the pop-up virtual keyboard on the deck, nothing ever got put into the actual game.

All I could write was some random symbols when pushing the buttons on the deck, however these symbols would be of little use to naming correctly.

Anyone got a solution for my problem?

It feels like the pop-up keyboard should translate and put what I wrore there into the game, but it just didn't.

Any help is much appreciated as I'd really like to play the game, but not with a nonsense character name.

Half solved:

I connected the deck to a screen, with mouse and keyboard bluetooth. Then I simply wrote the name with the keyboard.

The original problem still remains though, as the popup name field doesn't register in-game.

its a bug but there is a solution without bringing out any keyboard.

when you need to enter the character's name click on it and it will open the steam field to enter the name, just press B and exit out of it.

when you are again already on the field of entering the name just press "STEAM + X" together and enter the name directly into the game with the keyboard, it should work.

the steam text box worked before the last patch but it seems to not work anymore sadly. yet it still tries to open it.

"STEAM + X" works indeed, that's one of the things I had tried. Annoying ...
So the last PoE patch broke this ? Or is it a Proton regression ?
