Stun lock - Why handicap the player with this?
Continuous 'stun-lock' is why I am not even going to bother playing this game any further.
It is completely and utterly rediculous when a shade or other spirit type enemy can keep a player in a helpless mode throughout an entire battle.

You get stunned once, you might as well be dead. I would rather get one-shot killed. At least then I wouldn't have to watch as my character is helplessly stunned over and over and over until they are dead.

I honestly don't care if this is fixed or not. Not even coming back.
Just wanted to point out my distress.
Hopefully, what I ended up paying for this game should be worth at least one rant.

I just wonder if you are troll or not

Indeed, yes, and remember when other pokemon would put your pokemon to sleep? Truly game-breaking! I would rather die than endure such an experience ever again.

Yes, some players hate stun-locking.

Fortunately there are counter-measures, and ways to kill enemies quickly.

This is a legitimate complaint so take your hate-mongering elsewhere please.

Your priest is the answer. Look at the priest spell book and select the required "Prayer against..." spell and cast that at the beginning of the encounter. You will, as you say, get murdered if you don't do this.

Jinath I am sorry if my comment felt offensive, while it might have been a legitimate complaint, internet is full of people who write stuff like that just for fun, and ultimatly what you wrote felt like a strong overreaction to me.

To target your concern, even if you claim you will never play PoE, my advice, should you ever play PoE again, would be to put someone tanky to intiate on phantom, use party members with interrupt potential and/or use spells to deal with the phantoms or afflictions caused by them.

No worries.
Thanks for the advice.

I am (or rather 'was') doing a solo run of the game using a rogue class Orlan character. So, using a tank class character or party member to soak up the damage is not going to work in my particular case.

I can work around being stun-locked by simply kiting the mob or luring it through traps or some such tactic and killing it from range.
My concern is that the developers actually use such a mechanic as 'stun-lock' in the first place to completely cripple any chance of a melee character of actually defeating a foe which would otherwise be very simple. It is unimaginative and cheap (in my opinion).

Could they not think of better methods to make the game more challenging?
The answer should be: yes they could. Why didn't they? Well, they just got lazy.

Anyways, tired of ranting about this. Life goes on.
Peace.

There are more challenging encounters in the game, but some complainers don't like them either.

Going solo and complaining that it's hard.
What.
Actually, I had also given up my first solo run with a Rogue when meeting the Phantoms and Shades in the Caed Nua Great Hall. The Rogue I had created just was not capable and reliable enough.

No old solo guide or bragging from powergamers can change that. These kind of guides go into great detail. Often it's too many details in my opinion, but still they don't mention some of the cheese that will be involved. Such as multiple attempts at using special scrolls effectively, or kiting, or the many failed tries to position a character between crates and other obstacles where the enemies cannot easily attack all at once. Afterall, it's the player that needs to be able to handle the solo char in exactly the way that will be necessary to succeed with the random number generator playing an important role, too. I've saved such guides for Baldur's Gate and always found it much more interesting to try something myself and advance in small steps instead of trying to follow some growingly complex walkthrough. It it works for me, it can even be the easier solution.

Going solo does not mean you must start a Triple Crown Solo game on your first try.

I had simply replaced my Rogue with a different class, more capable and much better for the task. It could be that using scroll of Fan of Flames may have worked with the Rogue, but I think I've tried that without being too successful.

There's an old argument from ages back about how crowd-control in a game at all is bad game design. I don't think it holds entirely for tactics games like Pillars. But the idea of having many abilities that actively prevent a player from playing the game is not a good thing.

Why are you complaining about this when going solo run.

This isn't skyrim.

Did you even fully read your own damn link? Clearly no, or perhaps you don't even understand your link.

"higher enemy health and stats" as you claim is fake difficulty.

"However, raising enemy stats may force the player to devise new strategies or execute their inputs with less errors. Trial and error and reattempting sections of a game are a natural part of most games, and only excessive or ridiculous examples of trial and error should be considered "fake""

The above is a Direct Quote from your link. Seems you need to fully read things and not just read elements that support your opinion. So I call ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ on your entire argument related to that.

The "sheen" only wore off (for you) because of the bug you have and has nothing to do with the false reasonings you are posting.

3.0 has a storymode for people that have a problem with enemies being a threat, I suggest you try that when it comes out. They have less stats for you...
