Still this game has no controller support
Even with the setting being already made up for console. Its a shame. Removing from the wishlist.

That is long before Steam Deck was made available.

Again, with respect, this type of response doesn't hold much weight. Countless games have received fixes and updates long after their dev cycle concluded.

POE wouldn't exist without the financial backing PC players gave Obsidian during the crowdfunding process. How ironic it is that it's PC players who now have to go without a feature that already exists on other platforms.

You're all wrong (except for that guy)

Forget this game. Baldur's Gate 3 supports controller. Baldur's Gate 3 is clearly the big winner.

That's a failed attempt at trying to imply that controller support matters.

Pillars of Eternity is a real gem among realtime-with-pause games of the CRPG genre.

How would you even play real time with pause with a controller? It might "technically" work, like all those awful command and conquer console ports, but it is not a good experience.

I would understand the complaint with POE2 after they added turn-based, but real time with pause? Cmon.

I'm glad I saw this thread. I've had PoE for years both here and on GOG and hadn't realized there was no controller support until now. I was just recommending this to a friend but they play with a controller for accessibility reasons, so I can tell them to skip this, I guess. That's too bad, it's otherwise a good game.

Your friend most likely isn't interested in the genre, at least not if it is a realtime-with-pause micro-management heavy CRPG where using a controller would be as awkward as using only a keyboard.

The game is from 2015 and complete since 2017 - it is a real gem among games of the genre, and if ignoring it for so long, that tells quite a bit about the interest in such games.

It also doesn't need this particular thread, since the topic of controller support has come up before since 2015 and is easily found by basic searching. For example:

Or, perhaps, this is this first time my friend has had a computer capable of gaming and they are now exploring what is available to them. Having chronic pain in their wrists shouldn't lock them out of this genre when they are able to hold a controller comfortably and have played and enjoyed Dragon Age: Origins on Xbox 360, and recently been really enjoying Baldur's Gate 3; what prompted me mentioning Pillars of Eternity in the first place. They have even enjoyed playing RTS games on controller so real-time isn't a concern of theirs.

You'd do well to think before posting. Do not assume others' histories nor how they enjoy playing games. Such arrogance is never a good look.

Then your friend is even more ill-advised to play a combat-heavy game like PoE that has heavy micro-management requirements because it offers little in terms of AI behavior and not much story-telling either. And if I were the one with chronic pain in my wrists, I would raise strong doubts about you recommending PoE to me - especially since you either haven't played it before or you have played it with keyboard/mouse instead. Chronic pain in the wrists does not prevent your friend from evaluating the gameplay requirements by taking a peek at some videos.

BG3 is turn-based not realtime-with-pause. Major difference. PoE 2 offers a turn-based mode as well.

It depends on what levels of input becomes necessary. Controller support is there in PoE, and there are players who play the game with a controller:

My first thought when I saw your post #21 in this topic. :steammocking:

Someone with chronic wrist-pain won't enjoy PoE and likely will enjoy a full gameplay video more than struggling within PoE. That's not arrogance, but the unwelcome truth.

Nobody cares, including the devs who have already sold this and most of their other titles in the hundreds of thousands of units.

God you're such a tool. Came here to say this years later. You don't know what you're talking about. Suggesting someone abstain from the game rather than adapt and play as comfortable as they want is a loser neckbeard move. Community layouts exist and the game isn't some marvelous gem that needs to be experienced in the perfect way.
