The weapons with the DR bypass property do seem to do more damage than the others. Estocs, maces and stilettos all do quite well for damage. Sabers also do well for the 1h weapons, they have a high base damage, however slashing resist is fairly common. It also depends a bit on what you're fighting, undead (vessels) tend to have low DR against crushing. There are some enemies who are immune to crushing, some who are immune to piercing and some who are immune to slashing.

there are diffferent pros and cons to all types.
If you consider basic 1H, well yes maces are up there, as well as battle axes with the natural crit amplifier and sabres with the high base DPS.

if you consider uniques, then generally the sabre duo Resolution - Purgatory is considered to be the best DPS. If you are interested in other qualities such as CC then Starcaller or Goadshuntyr are pretty good choices.
ooo battle axes are good? im gonna give them a shot right now

yea every battle axe has a natural 50% damage bonus on crit
ya i was messing around with one last night. when they crit they really are good

I've never used 1-handed weapons, what are they for? Except one for a tank, but it's irrelevant anyway.

single 1 handed for the best accuracy
dual 1 handed for the massive crits or double CC effect

All my dedicated melee damage dealers use 2H, all other party use ranged except tank. The only thing that comes to mind is dual wielding for rogue, but ain't it better to give him some ranged weapon anyways?

seems like there's way more stuff that is resistant to pierce and slash and very little that is resistant to crushing damage.

not by a longshot. If you want to see the highest damage output in the game go dual sabre rouge.
you can reach the fastest attack speed in the game with dual zero recovery monk
dual siletto cipher is a great way to gain focus
starcaller/ goadshuntyr is great on barbarian to stun everybody

The problem of dual rogue is that he must get close to the enemy and overall move around and it is very bothering in terms of friendly fire when it comes to heavy rain of AoE.

Maybe that's why I have never had a rogue through my three playthroughs.

I never use AoE damaging spells since they suck
But even if I would, I'd use the reflex- targeting ones and the rouge laughs about those.
True, dual rouge must get close and personal but you have the tools trust me.
I used about 2 rouge builds and one of them (dual sabres) surprised the heck outta me with his damage potential

It''s "rogue", dammit.
