I myself had used doorways to block them and stunlocked them till they died. They are awful otherwise.
I tried pulling down into that room when I was lvl 8 and died over and over, came back at 9 and did it the other way. Still took few trys.
btw who is Graylord?
dang, that helped a lot mate. hugging the wall, and split the clumb.
good call on that
Send out the usual 1 stealthed shooter to aggro 1 perimeter flyer (usually a Blight or Phantom), then lure the fast flyers to the doorway. Since all monsters in that room must walk or fly due "south" to line up with the doorway and then turn left 90 degrees to attack you, they won't have line-of-fire to any of your shooters. Stack your AoE DoTs just outside the doorway. You can crush their vanguard and take almost zero damage.
A few of the monsters, including the Adra Animat itself, won't even wake up, so they'll stay out of the 1st big fight. You can let combat end and then hunt them down as a separate fight, or use Kana's 2nd batch of Skeletons as free fodder to extend the 1st fight all the way into their faces.
Never fight a major PoE1 combat out in the open, when you're badly outnumbered and could get flanked. Always look for terrain and chokepoints to nerf their advantages.
