I know what you mean, and on some rests, I see Aloth and Durance with the "Damage Reduction" selection. On other rests, I see Aloth and Durance with "None" instead. I cannot change the drop down is greyed out.
I don't remember their original starting Survival value, but if it is 0 and you did not raise it on level-ups you still may get an option to choose Survival rest bonuses if:
- you have Survival bonus from resting in Caed Nua (from Warden's Lodge);
- Aloth/Durance are equipped with an item that raises their Survival skill.
(So when you remove the item or the Warden's Lodge bonus expires their Survival skill reverts back to 0 and you get the "greyed-out" option)
Or maybe this is just a bug.
