How the hell do you beat Thaos???
OMG this fight is RIDICULOUS.

My party is level 11, comprised of Aloth, Durance, Eder, Sangani, and Pallegina. My main character is a Druid. I'm playing on hard mode.

I start the fight - which inexplicably begins at normal speed and unpaused when the cutscene ends despite me having set auto pause on combat start and slow speed on - and put Eder on Thaos, the wolf on one statute, and Pallegina on the other.

The problem is, Eder gets destroyed in about 10 seconds because of a spell called "cleansing fire". It does some ungodly damage upfront, but then also does damage over time. I literally can't even outheal the damage with Durance. The spell is also AoE, so I have to spread people out so much that I can't even heal anyone. Thaos's defenses are so high that I can't even hit him.

Any tips? Nothing in the game was really challenging up until this point with the exception of the Sky Dragon, which I just let stay because I couldn't even damage it.

Bad equipment? Debuffs?

I don't remember having problems with any spells. My problem was that the statues hit like a truck, so I just and made Grieving Mother charm them so that they fought each other.

I myself would not bother spreading everyone out and instead focus on nuking down Thaos. I mean, as long as Durance does not die you can still resurrect your team mates and heal them up. Thaos will bubble himself and become immune to damage, then you can focus on the constructs. Use that period of time to buff up the group for when Thaos attacks again.

OP what is your builds and stats.

Most important thing would be the accuracy on all your characters and the weapon layout on your damage dealers.

You probably should be 12th level for the fight, but it's still beatable. You need to get your accuracy up because Thaos has good defenses. Have Durance cast his accuracy boosting spells and use potions of eldritch aim if you have them. Let Eder tank the statues to start (some of the tougher summons from figurines could do this as well) and the rest of the party engage Thaos. Your Druid might want to start the fight with Venombloom, which will do some damage to Thaos and possibly land a debuff while Durance casts his buffs. Once the buffs are up cast Returning Storm, it should be able to stun Thaos. If you land one stun, his defences will drop enough that you should be able to put him into his immunity mode with the assault from your party. If you can hit him hard enough you might be able to kill him before the stun wears off.

In the next stage of the fight you have to fight the Judge and the Executioner. The Judge is the more dangerous of the two. Thaos will rejoin the fight when one of the statues dies if he is on screen. Lure them both away from Thaos so that he is off screen, then kill the two statues.

Now you have to fight Thaos a final time. Recast the buffs and then engage Thaos, since you have your buffs up at the start of this final stage, it should be an easy fight.

The Judge does Crush damage.

The Headman does Slash damage.

Both statues are vessels. It can be very helpful to eliminate them first.

Are you sure it is Cleansing Fire that's causing you problems? It targets Deflection, which should be Eder's highest defense. Thaos' Pillar of Holy Fire does a lot more Burn damage over time and targets Reflex.

I guess you've missed the St.Ydwen's Redeemer weapon?

You're not even at level 12 yet, the original game's level cap was 12.
What difficulty are you playing on?

Yeah, probably. People often tend to exaggerate their accomplishments and minimize failures. 10 pull-ups turns into 13, and getting 3 wrong answers turns into only 1 because 2 of those questions were clearly stupid and didn't count.

"Ah, I only loaded a couple of times; might as well say I got it on the first try."
